Roadside Find: 1929 Franklin

1929 Franklin

From Brian C – Howdy Barn Finders. I just spotted this 1929 Franklin for sale in the streets of north Seattle. The seller says the odometer shows 60k but doesn’t say if it’s original. However it does state the motor is numbers matching and has had recent engine and brake work and runs and drivers great. They also say only 1,400 were produced in 1929! I included a photo of the sale info if anyone is interested or wants to pass it along.  I’ve included the photo of the seller’s information below, but if you can’t quite make out their contact information, please email me and I will let you know what it is! Special thanks to Brian for sharing this find with us!

1929 Franklin Ad

Here is the seller’s window ad, and in case you can’t read it here is what it says: Original 6 cylinder air cooled engine, recent valve job, hydraulic brakes just serviced, runs and drives great, only 1400 produced in 1929, classic that needs restoration or drive as-is, body is solid, odometer shows 60k miles, this car is a CCCA full classic, $8950.

If you happen to come across a find like this parked along the road, please share! You can send us any and all submission at mail@barnfinds.com

An amazing heads up (thanks Brian C) on a nice Classic (capital C rather than lower case “c”).

Brian’s alert caused me to check Seattle Craigslist and more info is available. The price is now $8500. For the man or woman with garage space this appears to be one heck of a deal. Not as terrific as the MG TF for $2500 or is it? Perhaps it is. It’s not apart and has not been bodged.

In my book, this is what “patina” looks like! Either a well-cared-for original or a sympathetic earlier resto.

Have never driven a Franklin, but would love to some day.

It’s a deluxe! Standards didn’t have cowl lights.

Just for the record in 1929 Franklin made over 14,000 cars. This one is a 130 sedan. it’s the cheaper and lower hp than the 135 sedan. The 135 had smaller marker lights but larger headlights, and the 130 had large marker lights and smaller headlights. These cars are very reliable and very well made. For that price you can’t go wrong. Whoever buys this we welcome you to the Franklin family. Please check out HHFranklin.com
