Rusty Driver: 1969 Dodge Charger

1969 Dodge Charger

It never ceases to amaze me to see what some people are willing to pay for project cars. Has the supply dried up so much that a rusted-out 1969 Charger is worth more than $5k? I could maybe understand if there was a big block under the hood or something, but this was a base V8 model. The seller does claim that it runs and drives, but personally I would be afraid that upon hitting its first bump that the whole car would collapse in on itself. From the looks of it, this Charger has rotted from the inside out. Somehow the floors are still in place, but if you look closely at the body you will see that some areas are paper thin. Sure, the sheet metal is all available, but the cost to do the job right would surely be more than just buying a good car to begin with. Am I missing something here? Take a look at the auction listing here on eBay and let us know what you think.

It’s a ponzi scheme just like the stock market and SSN, the last one in gets left holding the bag. A huge bubble ready to pop.

The last few cars featured the rust just keeps getting worse. Are people that desperate to own a musclecar? IF this POS is worth 6K my Mach1 is worth 60K easy.

I’ve seen swisscheese that didn’t have this many holes. It doesn’t even have a title. On top of that, a 318/904 car isn’t a big money car when it’s done. So, if people are bidding on body tags and paperwork, it’s still a zero. I guess I just don’t get it for $5990.00 and 11 hours to go.

Pictures are a bit fuzzy, and the underside doesn’t look that bad, so it might not be as bad as it looks. Rusted out taillight housings are pretty common, but you guy’s are right, it certainly wasn’t a money car from the beginning so why bother.

If the Dukes made a jump in this one, there would be two boys sitting on a pile of rust at the landing zone!

These early Mopars are bringing the money, hence we are subject too seeing ridiculous money being spent for junk that should have been crushed a long time ago.

    Lookup Porsche 356 for reference.

my 2 cents every1 has there own opinion an fact is we don’t know why the buyer bought it, maybe it was OE parts he was after sure maybe they don’t equal the purchase total either way there’s a lot of people that has skills required to do there own work out of there own garage hell my buddy gets clients to fly him all over the US to do paint jobs an body work on things like this so my opinion if a person feels its worth it to them then let them pay it, if we don’t think it is then we wont period.
