Second Chance: 1970 Renault R10

1970-Renault-R10

You may have missed out on the Simca, but we doubt you could get any closer with this one. It’s a 1970 Renault R10 and we assume the driving experience will be very similar. It’s also a rear-engined French sedan that’s located in Ohio, albeit by a different seller. It runs and drives, but could use a little sorting. Find it here on eBay where bidding is currently at $1,775. Thanks goes to Jim S. for the tip.

    Ouch, my bad,
I thought that the Simca was the same (model) as this car. (sort of like the GM family siblings..no ?)

The same (I wrote there) applies to this car.
Your tags summed it up perfectly, Jesse:
    French, driver, oddball, Renault…
I would add ugly and simple .

I guess the Burgundy ones were rust proofed the best, and went to Ohio.

What’s odd is, he seems to have the parts to fix the things that are broken, but doesn’t fix it himself ?
    CA car in Ohio.
It seems to me that the car looks better in the (lousy, sorry) photos than it really is.
    40 footer ?

Certainly an oddball car, if you really want one and are back East, then I guess this is as good as you’ll find there..
ME, in California, would look for one out here, that I can inspect in person.

This was a great car for a newly-divorced guy. Since anything that made it move forward or backward was in constant need of replacement–forget repair!–it made it a deal because the seats were great and you could get a good night’s sleep. Water leaks in the floor at least allowed you a foot bath…

I owned an R8 Gordini for a while.
OMG – I found out really quickly why the only way to drive one of these was with a sack of cement in the (hood …. that’s front) and even then if you drove it really quickly the only way to avoid the dramatic under steer was to literally hurl it into a sideways slide. What a POS.
And in the rain it was the king of aquaplaning ……
Other than the pretty good mechanicals, the rest of it was the worst junk finish I have ever seen.
When I was offered a silly price for it I parted with it very gladly.
    Total piece of bad design.
The R10 is nothing more than the same bad design with a slightly updated body.
I’m going to have nightmares for the next week with this reminder of my experiences with that R8.
