Silver-Haired Grocery-Getter: 1971 Pontiac LeMans

We’ve heard about the little old lady from Pasadena who drove her car to church on Sundays and this 1971 Pontiac LeMans has a somewhat similar story. This silver-haired.. er.. silver LeMans can be found here on eBay in Shelton, Connecticut with an asking price of $9,500 or you can make an offer.

This beautiful car was owned by “an older lady who said she only used it for grocery’s and doctors appointments”. This is a third-generation LeMans and they were made for the 1968 through 1972 model years. This sure seems like a ton of car for the money to me, but Hagerty puts a reasonable twist on things. They peg a #2 excellent condition car as being valued at $14,500 and a #3 good condition LeMans as being worth $7,500, and that’s with a 400 V8 instead of the 350 V8 that this car has.

The seller could be right on the money if the rest of the car looks as good as the photos look. There are, oddly, only two exterior photos and none showing the driver’s side at all, that always worries me since eBay and Craigslist both let a seller load a couple of dozen photos for no extra charge so why not just snap away and show everything? The interior looks good other than a couple of tears on the front seats, but the back seat looks like new. The seller says that it’s “missing a front valance has a crack in the front winshield [sic] bottom middle”.

The 350 cubic-inch 250-hp V8 engine reportedly “runs amazing” and hasn’t been cleaned or anything else, according to the current owner. This car only has 53,000 miles on it. For the price of a boring late model used car, let’s see a show of hands for those of you who would rather have this LeMans! I thought so, same here.

Sold for 9K. Guess the interior wasn’t scaring too many folks away, pretty minor anyway.

As a multiple GTO owner,I can say that the Lemans represents the most style,as well as the best value,in this hobby.

Being a post car would this not be a T-37?

Lemans and T-37 were both available as a 2 door coupe (Code 3527 & 3327 respectively) and a 2 door hardtop (3537 & 3337) . T-37 was also available as a 4 door sedan while Lemans was available as a 4 door sedan, 4 door hardtop and 2 and 3 seat wagon .
