Sleeper Survivor: 25K Mile 1993 Ford Mustang GT

At first glance, this 1993 Ford Mustang GT is simply a nicely preserved convertible with low miles and excellent cosmetics, thanks to its Arizona address and 25,000 original miles. Look a bit closer, however, and you soon realize there’s much more going on here than just a minty Fox-body convertible – there’s a supercharger under the hood, wrapped in a body that otherwise looks completely stock. Find it here on craigslist for $22,500. Thanks to Barn Finds reader Rex M. for the find.

The seller refers to the supercharger and headers as being “all factory”, but it’s hard to say whether that means these are SVT-stamped products or he means the install is clean enough to be considered OEM. Either way, cleanly performed upgrades are definitely the seller’s strong suit, as the bone-stock appearance from the outside would keep most drivers guessing until it was too late – and that supercharger whine had already sent this clean GT off into the horizon.

The interior looks as you’d expect a low mileage car to look, but it’s still surprising to see the door pocket sag on the driver’s side – or is that just how readily the map pockets on the Fox bodies tended to sag? Regardless, the rest of the interior is in perfect order, and equipped with the preferred five-speed manual transmission. The seller notes the Mustang is a “little scary” to drive, and given I don’t see a roll cage, I would likely share that sentiment.

The soft top is in excellent condition, and the paintwork looks like it still shines nicely. The stripes on the tail lamps are another indication as to how clean this Fox body is, as those details tend to look fairly worn out by now – along with the convertible roof – for cars left out in the elements. Clearly, this Mustang GT has always been treated as a collector-grade specimen, and modified to a high level without distorting its stock appearance. For the low miles and the upgrades, the price seems fair to me.

Clean Fox Body with low miles. Superchargers are not rare additions, but seeing one on a convertible is uncommon. Low-stress yet fun collector car. I agree with Jeff, the price does not seem out of line.

And yes, used or not used, the map pockets sag.

I wish the seller would have pulled the car out into the sunshine for pics.

A sleeper Mustang GT? What’s next, sleeper Corvettes?

The supercharger is for people who aren’t afraid of their car getting out of it’s own way.

Are those ’93 model taillights? Aren’t those 87-88 lights?

Those cheese grater taillights were used through 1993 on all the GT’s.

Looks like there is more than 25,000 mile in the driver’s side floor carpet. Looks as though it’s worn through.

Beautiful car would love to bring it home. but I do question how the mat got worn through with only 25K miles. The engine compartment is a mess for those low miles unless it has never been cleaned. But even with those questions, I still love it.

The worn carpet might be the horse logo if you all are talking about the floormat with the spot on the outside by the door. Nice car for sure though.

Brand new AZ plates. Best to run a Carfax to see history and/or ask for service and repair receipts.

Sometime late 2018 or early 2019. Not a full indicator but certainly something to ask about why the new name tag.

Wonder if the blower was to offset the weight of the luggage rack? 😂

Looks like the left side of the front bumper cover is scratched. It’s hard to tell since the lighting is not the best. If it is scratched, I would not say it it is like new if the bumper cover needs repainted.
