Smallmouth Brit: 1956 Triumph TR3

tr3

This TR3 is an example of how I’d love to see cars represented for sale. The car is listed here on eBay and is located in Canton, Georgia. Bidding starts at $9,500 with no reserve. I’ve watched the seller’s auctions before, and the car is very clearly represented with faults spelled out and pictured. This particular car was fitted with overdrive by its original owner and the sale also includes an aftermarket hardtop. While rust repair is needed, the car is straight and TR3’s are straightforward to repair. My biggest concern would be the center section of the chassis right beneath where the exhaust runs through it, where there’s a lot of metal missing. At least repairs there won’t be visible from up top! The car does run, but the brakes are non-functional. There aren’t that many “small mouth” TR3s around, but is it worth $9,500? I’m interested in what you think! Special thanks for Robert R for this tip!

right color inside and out, amount of damage on the body, and wear to the interior. but that top looks out of place. going to need to be rebuilt with new frame and the rest of the rust repaired. great find

Phone dropped out on the last gents…to answer your question if its solid I would pay the price.. The bodies come off the framea fairly easy …this one could be a daily driver right away.. I miss my TR3 that car never let me down and never got me busted.

That appears to be an original hardtop…again will never forget the lines. Hope the seller gets his price

What is with the Orange? I kinda like it migrating all over the car. What is it up to?

Apparently you weren’t the only one curious… someone asked about the orange and he answered

“Just something I’ve used on my auctions for 17 years for color and size comparison – it’s like my trademark now – most people recognize my auctions by the orange – and that’s what I’m known for now – the orange man. Cheers…..Richard”

I love your TR! I still have mine I bought it in 1971 and have held on to it ever since. I have also acquired a hardtop for it and am interested in attaching it. I however have no idea how to do this!!! LOL. Would you mind sending me some photos of the hardware you use for this??? Thanks. Laird
