The seller of this 1969 Mercury Monterey purchased it at a storage unit auction. They had hoped to restore it, but after replacing a few parts and attempting to start it, they gave up. They think it would run fine with carburetor work though. Well and there is that little problem with the title. They replaced the starter, changed the oil, and did a tune up, but didn’t want to pay the $230 to get a new title. These will be easy fixes for the next owner, but apparently were not for them. Hey, at least they have been kind enough to list it here on eBay with a 1¢ starting bid and no reserve. Obviously they are ready to move on and will let it go for whatever the market feels it’s worth. This big Mercury looks pretty scruffy, but there is a 390 under the hood…
I was hoping it was from California but no, it’s an old salt from the East Coast. And Mr Seller, WAKE UP! Who even CARES if it’s been in dry storage for ten years? It’s a 46 year old car so the rust has STILL had 36 years to chew on the car before it was put in it’s dry storage… >_<

I agree with Jason. No one is going to miss this one.
seller does not own this car, if it was easy to get a title they would have already done so. someone else has a good title to this and could try to reclaim car at a later date. it is not worth the legal fight.
He knows the title is easy to get and he knows it will run just fine after you replace the carb.

Not much demand for these cars! I bought a titled but very rough 1970 Monterey convertible (one of just hundreds built) as a parts car; I have sold very few parts.

I know where there are 5 of these setting in a farm field behind a barn outside of the town I live in, they were all bought by a old man that had more money then brains, he bought one new and the rest used, he would drive them until the door fell off of them, tow them home and park them out back, like a lot of people did back then, he always told people he did that in case he needed parts for one!!
He is gone now and the kids own the farm that their Dad owned, and they are still sitting there, the next time I am out that way I will take picture and post it for you.
He also has a few old trucks, and farm trucks sitting there also.

My parents had a white ’69 Monterey sedan. It was a great old car that I hoped would STILL be around when i started driving in the early 80’s. Alas, it didn’t last that long. There was a light blue one in our hometown that had Cragar Sunspoke wire wheels, white-letter tires and duals. I thought it was the coolest car ever and that was the plan for ours. Too bad I never got the chance to hot-rod that puppy.
