The Dodge Charger debuted in mid-1966 and would not be popular until Chrysler’s B-body intermediates were redesigned in 1968. Compared to just 17,000 Chargers built in 1967, two years later the tally would be more than 89,000. Included in that number is this beautiful Charger that is both an R/T and an SE, a blend of performance and creature comforts. This Mopar is in beautiful condition and lacks for practically nothing, but that kind of perfection does not come cheap. This Dodge has been owned by the seller for 20 years, covered, and kept inside when not in use. The odometer reading is 57,000 miles, averaging only 1,000 miles since new. The body looks quite solid, and the paint and vinyl top are very nice with no mention of any prior rust or a repaint in the automobile’s past. The black vinyl interior may also be flawless, thanks in part to it being a Special Edition (SE) Charger as well as an R/T (short for Road/Track).
Under the hood resides a date-correct 440 cubic inch Magnum V8, but it’s not numbers matching although the 4-speed manual transmission is. These powerplants were the “Hi-Perf” versions which were rated at 375 hp. This machine was well-optioned with power steering, front disc brakes, and the Super Track package with included a 4.10 ratio gearing for the rear end. MSD electronic ignition has been added along with a Holley Double Pumper carburetor and Indy intake manifold. As you might expect, we’re told the Dodge performs well.
The list of the car’s needs is short, including finding an OEM fuel sending unit (apparently an aftermarket one is in play), and figuring out why the factory radio doesn’t have power. This Dodge has a factory 8-track tape player that you could use if you still have any music around recorded on that technology. All-in-all, this is a beautiful performance vehicle that is in demand as Hagerty estimates these cars easily go in the six-figures.
Not an easy task having two people tip on the same car. The tip line will usually reject any duplicate tips.
Professional write up Russ for a stunning vehicle. I prefer the twin exhausts when they are separated right out to the edge of the vehicle, looks tougher than when they are close together by number plate.

For sure….not even close imo. Of course I’m kinda bias. Charger’s body is more aerodynamic, sharper, & the interior is much nicer.
An amazing find, Mr. Dixon, but I must correct you on one thing. The front seats on a ’69 SE came standard w/ leather facings; vinyl sides and back. The rear seat was all vinyl. And these definately look like leather due to the very mild creasing….my brother had the same car, triple black, 440, stripe delete, automatic and loaded with power windows, am-fm radio, Air cond, and 6 (or maybe 8?) way manual drivers seat…wish I had that car! Anyways great find and a MAGNIFICENT car!!

It’s a beautiful ‘Bolt. Anything I buy in this price range has a PIN number attached to
it but, if you’ve got the money, or don’t care about money at this point, why not!
I’m not sure if we are at almost 100K yet for a non-numbers matching R/T, SE or not.
I guess we will find out.
My 68 R/T Charger looked exactly like this one except of course the stripes. Wish I had never sold that one.
The Charger market is crazy now. I’ve had a bunch of 68-70’s and I just can’t afford one now. Love them though, the best looking car of the sixties imo.
Not so sure on that price – most high dollar cars are much more closer to original or a better resto-mod……..
