Topless But Tired: 1969 Pontiac LeMans Convertible

1969 Pontiac LeMans Convertible

Summer is coming up fast (I realize that doesn’t make me popular in the still-cold North, but it was 74 F here at lunch today!) and you know you need a convertible for those top-down drives in the sun! This solid LeMans is located in Kokomo, Indiana and is offered here on eBay with a buy-it-now price of $6,500 or best offer. The Keystone Klassics give this garage find an edgier look, although they are pretty corroded. The amazing thing here is that the seller states there is only very light rust; I’m guessing this car didn’t spend its entire life in Indiana! Engine, transmission, and brakes have been completely rebuilt, although the seller doesn’t state if it’s a runner right now or not. The radiator and gas tank have also been cleaned out. The LeMans was an upscale model of the Tempest for Pontiac, with luxury and performance features to set it apart from lower models. If the 88k mile claim is accurate, this convertible may not take a whole lot to resurrect—you might even have time to do so before summer! Would this do for you, or do you have another convertible in mind for the upcoming top-down driving season?

That would be a 68 according to the rear marker lights

Actually those are correct 69 lemans/tempest markers. GTO’s were different in 69. No vent windows and tail lights above the bumper are other differences.

Always liked that body style, it just seemed to ooze muscle and fast… I had a buddy in High school that had a dark Green GTO coupe, with the 400 – 4 spd. in it that was awesome fast, and would lite the tires in the first 2 gears without any trouble. Awesome cars… But I think that I will be working on my own rag top for the up coming top down season this year…it needs abit to get it back on the road after 10 yrs in the barn in storage…

It will take more engine and brake work than anything for this one…

Well, they wouldn’t let me post a pic of it here, but it’s a 41 Chevrolet Cabriolet… pretty rare car …

@Oldstuff, there’s a place to choose the file (gif or jpg) right in the comments, but if the picture is high-resolution it may be more than the 8MB allowable size.

That’s in my town if any serious buyers want me to check it out on their behalf.

As a previous owner of 4 GTO’s I lost interest in the GTO / Lemans body styles after the 67 model year. I had a 65, 2 67’s and a 70 while the 70 road better it just seemed bloated to me for a musclecar.
