The Ford Galaxie was produced from ’59 till ’74 and saw several redesigns, this ’64 is one of our favorite generations. This car was last inspected in 1978. The story goes that the previous owner, an “older” man, ran it into a tree near his house one winter and parked the car in the garage. Listed here on eBay this 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 has a BIN of $2,500 and the option to make an offer.
According to the seller, “had plans on doing a big motor swap in the car and just do not have the time.” He was able to purchase the car and pull it out of the garage, but that’s as far as the dream ever went. That’s probably a good thing though.
The car is full of parts, including lots of spares. The seller doesn’t offer a list of what all is included, but it sounds like they haven’t even gone through what’s here.
There are mustang parts and it’s anyone’s guess what all you might find here. It might be good to check and make sure that all the parts in the car are included with the purchase.
The seller claims this car is in good shape. There is the fender accident and rust in both quarter panels to deal with. The owner has not gone through the extra parts, so there might be some of the needed parts to fix it already with it. There aren’t any images of the back of the car or of the engine. Is the 289 engine present and does it spin? There are 65,103 miles reported on the odometer, but we don’t know if that is even remotely accurate. Since an engine swap was planned, some questions for the seller maybe in order! So is the Ford worth saving or would you rather have a different generation of Galaxie to wrench on?

As ’64s go, this is not the high end of the spectrum, since it carries the unattractive Custom sedan-series roof panel. The hardtop is 10,000 times more attractive!

These always seemed bulky to me after the 63 model year. Very comfortable to ride in and roomy.. This model just doesn’t seem to POP!
appears that drivers vent (wing) window and left passenger rear window may be broken. This particular body style of a Galaxie is probably one of the lowest production models built. They were used quite a lot in drag racing in Pennsylvania in the mid to late 60s’. I don’t know about the buy it now price, though, since it is one of the least desirable models Ford put out. If you can find a Custom 300 in this body style you will shave about 300 pounds off total weight.
