Triumph TR6, VW Cabriolet And Seven MGBs

It’s the Christmas season and some will be humming a song about a Partridge in a Pear Tree and Five Golden Rings. What we have are seven MGBs instead of Seven Swans and it looks like they haven’t done much for awhile. They’re listed on craigslist in Alburgh, Vermont. The fellow wants $13,000 for the lot. Six of the MGBs are said to be easy to get running and two are parts cars but that totals eight according to my fingers. Perhaps the TR6 or the VW is included in the easy category. There are piles of MGB parts included as well. So it’s about $2,000 a car and you also get a couple of parts cars, plus piles of parts, plus a TR6 and a topless rabbit.

The MGA is not included. Most cars are inside but the parts cars are outside.

The TR6 looks complete from here. No word about condition or rust issues though.

Most appear to be rubber bumper cars, but one car appears to be an earlier more desirable chrome bumper car. From here it looks like it could be a nice car. What do you think you’d find upon closer inspection? Is there any chance these MGBs aren’t all rusty? If somehow most are in decent condition, what could the collection really be worth? It would certainly be interesting to know more about what’s really there.

I dunno, I count 4 chrome bumper MG’s the 2 outside and 2 inside. It looks like 3 rubber bumper cars, all inside. The best one, the blue car is a chrome bumper.

It looks like a fun project for someone with the time and space, I have neither.

A quick ticket to divorce court. Thank goodness they are on VT and I am in Ca or I would be over taking a look for sure. Seems like a good deal and sounds like there is wiggle room still with that price.

Spent a couple of summer vacations up in Alburg not all that long ago when my kids were younger. Way the hell up there on the Canadian border, about a hour or so south of Montreal.

Right on Champlain, it’s more of a fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, destination than a summer resort, type place. Literally, more cows than people, but a more quiet, restful place cannot be found.

How the guy came up with eight MGB’s up there God only knows, unless he hijacked unsuspecting drivers on their way through town.

A semi for the cars, and a 30 ft box truck for everything else?

Better have a vacant warehouse, ready to accept the lot. The blue and the (silver) cars are not really “inside”, they’re in a pole-tent style thing, might be a plywood floor under the tarp?

Yep, Fogline, I’d be buying the one-way ride to a judge’s workplace too. Sometimes no room and no time are a good thing.

I want all of it! I guess I want to remain married more, but this is the stuff dreams are made of. This could be the start of a lucrative business, though. The chrome bumpers alone have to be worth something, and anything else that’s salvageable could be converted to cash.

IF the TR6 is a runner and IF one or more of the Bs could do the same there’s more money. Mark my words, MGBs are going to have their day. After 5 or 6 years and a lot of hard work you could easily recoup your initial investment + the transportation + the storage…

    Dreams…

Went by a sign for this “burg” on the way to Canada last summer. Coulda stopped and shopped, buuuuutt, spouse is concerned about my ability, at 72, to finish the Sprite, Herald, Moggie Traveller and Fiberfab Jamaican currently in the queue here in Florida, since it took 27 years to do the TR3. I do have more time in retirement, but probably not enough to take on another eight cars. Nuts, always wanted a TR6 and a “B”.

Being from Massachusetts and knowing these New England winters & the amount of sand/salt we toss all over the place; I’d be really skeptical about even looking into these (especially since there aren’t any true close up shots, interior shots, or shots of the frame).

Hate to say it but I’m guessing that most of these have horrible frame rot. 😭 (with exception of maybe the blue)
