Turbo Beast: 2001 Mustang Cobra SVT

You don’t need to spend big money on a brand new Mustang GT to experience a 469 horsepower Mustang. This 2001 Mustang SVT has seen just 13k miles since new and is packing a turbo kit with all the request upgrades to achieve 469 horsepower and 490 foot pounds of torque. It’s also had the suspension upgraded to put all that power to good use. This low mileage beast can be found here on eBay in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

Someone spent some serious money building this Mustang up. The seller claims it cost about $18k total, which seems high, but turbocharging a car with a standalone fuel management system isn’t particularly cheap. They state they have a folder full of the receipts for the work, so it will be interesting to see what all was done. A stock 2001 SVT’s engine was rated at 320 horsepower and adding over 140 horses to any engine is neither cheap or easy. Whether they spent that much or not, this has to be one heck of a ride!

The interior is showing minimal wear and looks right for a car with this low of mileage. It also features the very rounded styling you’d expect to find in an early 2000’s Ford, but it gets the job done. The white shifter and all white gauges are a nice touch that instantly lets you know this isn’t your run of the mill Cobra SVT.

It will be interesting to see where bidding goes on this one. Low mileage SVTs are desirable, but having been repainted and modified, it’s hard to say exactly what it’s worth. So do you think the modifications add value or hurt it? I have a feeling this will be the type of find that after the first drive, you won’t care what you just spent on it!

Love it! I think “Turbo Beast” sums it up perfectly. That would be one heck of a fun car to drive.

Killer of a street car, the value is measured in ear to ear grins and your copilot’s rollercoaster ride facial expressions! Hey, that is what this bad boy was built for~Thrills.

In case anyone wonders; THIS is how I define “Plenty of grunt”.

Reserve isn’t met in the early $6’s, with more than 5 days remaining on the auction. If the price is anywhere near right, this is a heck of a lot of fun on 4 wheels.

Definitely measured in SMILES per MILE!

This car really appeals to me – not just get up and go but suspension work to help stay between the ditches. Too bad the German TUV makes it difficult to register such a car, not saying it can’t be done but its beyond my capabilities – they spent 4 hours going over my restored beetle with 34 HP and had me change grade of bolts to originsl spec – imagine a car upgraded to 469 HP !!

+Paul – I have imagined it… and I can’t stop smiling. Gave you a thumbs up for the good cautionary info.

Great looking car and built like the factory should have built it. I wonder why the hood doesn’t fit.

  7. EJB

I wonder what turbo kit they are running? Hellion sells a nice all inclusive kit for the Mustang. When I put a tubular k-member in my 03′ GT I bought the one that was made to accommodate the Hellion turbo.

Well then life. I still have the car so maybe someday I’ll have that turbo.
