Unfinished Project: 1990 Chevrolet Corvette 4×4

Well now, this is something just a bit different. This 1990 Corvette is what the owner refers to as a partially completed monster truck conversion, and it’s just waiting for someone to finish it to their own personal taste. There is some work to do, but the end result will certainly be quite distinctive. Located in Lake City, Florida, you will find the Corvette listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has now reached $1,100, and with the reserve having been met, it looks like someone is about to land themselves a very interesting project.

The Corvette body sits on a shortened frame with Ford 4×4 front and rear axles. The body itself doesn’t look to be too bad, and a fresh coat of paint would do it the world of good. It certainly looks intimidating, and the owner says that with a total width of around 7ft, it should fit on most normal car trailers. There is no engine or transmission, but the next owner could choose to configure it to their own taste. The 44″ tires are said to be pretty well shot, and while they would be okay for mud-running, a couple of them do leak air over time.

The interior trim of the Corvette actually looks quite tidy, but the owner doesn’t mention whether he has any seats for it. I suspect that the next owner is probably going to want to make some changes because muddy environments and carpets aren’t the greatest of combinations. Having said that, leaving a full Corvette interior in place could make this a quite luxurious monster truck. Well, it’s a thought, anyway.

Monster trucks come in many different forms, and we’ve seen a few interesting looking ones over the years here at Barn Finds. This one is distinctly different and has the potential to be a real eye-catcher. I wonder if this is one that you would take on? if you did, what sort of engine and transmission would you fit to it?

Can’t be very safe at all. Hope he is insured well because as a taxpayer I do not want to be paying for his nursing home bill after brain damage.

That’s my thoughts exactly, as soon as I saw this I showed it to my woman and said “why in the **** would someone do this to any car let alone a Corvette. It’s still at $1100 with a day left, all the time and money down the drain. Those tires are about $200 – $400 apiece. What a waste !

Jacked up Corvette created by a man name Earl…

Your a master mechanic with 8 digits in working order

You have a poster of Jeff Foxworthy as your idol.

When floods come near your home you hitch it up to the vette and tow to higher ground :-)

Moral of the story is no jacking 4x4s under muscle cars…

First of all to each there own! Personally I don’t know weather this a waste of a corvette or the waste of a 4×4 truck. This is not my thing so I have no interest in it. I have an older 4×4 dodge diesel truck with a full 8’ box which I find very handy for hauling things. This won’t haul things. I don’t have a corvette but if I did I’d want one that would corner well for trips on those twisty roads. This won’t do twisty at speeds, so it’s basically useless, it looks stupid, and it would be difficult to get into. I think I’ve got it. It’s an abomination that’s what it is….. an abomination. Just saying.

This was one of my favorite later model Vettes, an abomination is the perfect word for this ‘car-truck’ or whatever you’d call it, sad !

Clever thoughts on what we should expect from a truck. It’s waste of a truck – put the Ford body back on and it would probably be worth more…

I can’t even imagine getting in and out of this thing, I have a 93 C4 and they are not easy to get into or out of sitting at normal height, once you figure it out it’s easier but still not like hopping in a sedan. Once you’re in there it’s great though, I know once you get into this it still wouldn’t be great lol

This would be a great piece for someone that owns a lot of land. Who wouldn’t want to whip this around their own (very large) back yard on a Saturday morning?

I’ve had 4×4 trucks and have a Vette. I can’t imagine combing the two into one vehicle, though I have seen some video’s of comparable vehicles over the years. No it’s not to my taste but then again, it’s not the only one that fits that description.

I concur. It’s hard enough getting in out of a C4 at normal height. This one, you’d have to have a ladder man to remove the ladder after you climb in and another to get out whenever you stop. No practical use. Not even for a show vehicle. Fiberglass panels probably wouldn’t hold up well to 4 wheelin, but could make a good boat. These issues probably are the reason for it being for sale.

I gotta agree with Bakyrdhero. It would be a blast having your friends over taking turns around a small track. Not sure any of my friend are Rednecks but I do know they all like motors. We would be laughing all the way to the Saloon after a track day with this.

Like on squid billies, this needs to be part of his truck, boat, four wheel drive vette rig! But he should have used a Camaro, would have been more red neck appropriate. Comes with mullet wig!

I am curious what happened to the original Corvette to cause someone to do something like this. It does not appear to have been wrecked. Did it suffer hurricane damage. I do not like Corvettes, but thlis makes absolutely no sense to me.

How did this Bama-cruiser get out of Alabama?
This appears to be a waste of 2 vehicles. However, we don’t know the mechanical condition of the Vet. Nor do we know the body condition of the Ford. So this is what you get when tying to salvage a couple of screwed up vehicles mixed with a lot of beer.
I’m sure I would of come up with a different combination/solution. But then again, I don’t drink a lot of beer.

I would love to have this set right in the middle of our Annual Corvette Club Car Show. This would bring a lot of folks in just to see this spectacle. The owner should trailer it and make the Car Show Circuit, it’s a Winner !!!!!!

I only write when I really feel passionate about one of the BF listings.Passionate positive or passionate negative. Can you guess which passionate I mean? I side with most of the negative sentiments…Why??? More of a total waste of one of America’s iconic cars…Absolute crazy endeavor…So sorry for the Corvette.Tough to even look at this one…Whom outside of Florida would want this awful piece of wasted ingenuity? If the owner gets more than $1100.00 I wonder what the buyers’ motive is?…All of you get my point..Can’t say anymore. My eyes are getting tired.

Ok, as you see above I have already made a comment. BUT, if driving off road is your thing. (It is for me sometimes in the old trusty FJ40) Then this might be fun. Having grown up in Illinois, I can see and understand the “lack of need” for something like this. However I now live in Northern Nevada where there are millions of miles of dirt, rock and sometimes sand roads/2 trackers to traverse and explorer. Sometimes just a drive up in the mountains (Nevada is the most mountainous state of the lower 48) for the view and a picnic is called for. “I” agree that I would not have done it to a C4 Vette. (one of my favorites) But doing to a Mack truck or my C700 Ford would make worse sense.
Yes, it hurts my eyes also, but living in the land of the 4X4 you see some pretty strange vehicles at times.

    I just saw this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAqjFD4I63s

Seems like it was just as much of a “jewel” as it appeared in the listing!

I wanted it to be so much nicer than it turned out to be. (not that I was going to buy it) But no such luck.
