Vista Cruiser Cousin: 1967 Buick Sports Wagon

1967 Buick Sport Wagon

We have featured a few Oldsmobile Vista Cruisers over the years, but this is the first Buick Sport Wagon. With a name like Sport Wagon, you know it’s gotta be cool. It shared the skylight equipped mid-sized body with the Olds, but in place of the 330 Rocket V8 sat Buick’s 340 two-barrel. The engine may have been a little bigger, but it actually put out 30 less horsepower. That could be one reason why Buick’s interpretation can be purchased a little cheaper today. This particular example has some rust that needs attention, but it’s claimed to run and drive. I do like the look of this wagon, but I think the asking price of $6,500 might be a tad high. Take a look here on eBay and let us know what you think!

I might dicker a bit, but seems to be a fair price 4 dr Skylarks are probably abound, so that would take care of the front clip . depending how the engine runs, may swap it out. the seller states no dash lights, that might be as simple as a fuse . may recover the interior, just to make it look nicer, but it is ok the way it is . I, personally would do away with the side chrome, but that is just me.. a good paint job, bring the rest of the chrome back to ” new” and you’d have a nice looking boulevard cruiser !

I don’t know if I can appreciate this sellers attempts at full disclosure….. if you look at the picture of the rear seat shot from the passenger side… look thru the window… is that a patch job with primer sprayed over it….. how much more is hiding on that passenger side that he doesn’t take a single picture of and makes no mention of??? Sorry but I’ve had my experiences with sellers who neglect to include all the details…that matter. One would do very wise to inspect this one “in person” thoroughly.

I like it. Growing up my dad always drove a Ford Country Squire wagon. With all that wood grain. This would make a neat tow vehicle.

In the 70’s, customizers would get ’em out of junkyards, then cut-off the ‘Vista’ portion, and graft them onto the roof of the 60’s early Vans; made a kinda/sorta unique addition, in a kookie kind of way.. but re this offering, naw, I’d pass as 70’s cars just don’t do it for me.

My uncle Mike (god rest his soul) had one of these 30+ years ago. Had a 425 w/dual quads from a 65 riviera in it. I remember going all over with him in it. I would love to have this one.I would do it up with a 455 stage 2, a 4 speed and a good set of gears and go have some fun with it. Would look great parked next to my 80 grand lemans safari wagon.
