Weekend Reader Finds – 2/8/2014

Weekend Finds 2-10-2014

There were some interesting finds over the weekend, including a ’50 Ford Fire truck, a 1969 Lotus Europa with vintage racing history, and a ’56 Dodge Coronet 2 door with its original Hemi. There were also two Mustangs in the list, one is a survivor ’65 Fastback with a C code 289 V8. The other wouldn’t normally make the cut, but the fact that it’s a one owner 20th Anniversary edition Shelby GT-350 make it worth a look. The seller of the ’55 Cadillac Eldorado claims its runs, but the condition of the interior makes the asking price hard to swallow, let’s hope they will take considerably less. The MG Midget might be a rubber bumper car, but the lack of a reserve makes it a tempting proposition. Find the rest of the weekend’s finds and their respective links after the break!

Hey, sorry about that! Somehow it got left out. I added it to the end of the list if you’d like to check it out.

i would take the F5 and use it as or turn it into a pickup truck. if you sold off the fire truck parts you might be driving a heavy duty pickup for free or close to free.

I’m really loving that Lotus Europa. It has a great mix of 70’s vibe and ratty old race car that just gives it the look. It needs a lot, but I would like to see it made safe and running then left as-is. I would probably pull the body off the frame though and paint the chassis and fix/update the brakes and suspension. It wouldn’t change the look but it would make it a usable car that will be reliable for a long time (if anything old and British can be reliable).

FYI – The 56 Dodge does NOT have it’s original Hemi. This is a Poly engine car with an earlier Hemi transplanted into it – note 2bbl carb and intake, silver paint, and red decals. The alternator is a clue something is not stock. 56 was the first year for the D-500 package, which included crossed-flag badges on the hood and deck lid. Engine should be red, stamped with the KD5 code, and was only available as a 4bbl. CID was 315 for 56, 325 for 57. No Hemi’s at Dodge after 57 until the 426 came on line in the 60’s.

I wonder about that 20th anniversary Mustang. I thought that they all were either convertibles or had T-tops.
