Weirdness Done Right! 1984 4X4 Fiero V8

Thanks to Barn Finds reader Ian C., we have the opportunity today to look over — then look away — then look over again this marriage of two GM platforms that had no idea they were the perfect match for each other. I’m talking about you, Fiero and Blazer! This running, driving, head-turning and show winning partnership is for sale here on craigslist for $9,500 and is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia despite being advertised in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The creator of this mashup really has done a fine job of integrating the two vehicles, including parts from a Dodge RAM (grille guard) and some Ferrari emblems that I would have left off of the car/truck. We have featured quite a few of these car on a truck chassis homebuilts before but I don’t remember one that looked like it had this build quality.

Since it’s a “Fauxarri”, it has to have the side strakes from a Testarossa, right? Thankfully, these are actually vinyl and will peel right off with a hair drier. Or maybe you like them? Raised white letter tires complete the look and I’ll bet the Chevrolet 350 cubic inch V-8 sounds mean through those headers and short mufflers. Someone did a nice job of shortening the Blazer’s wheelbase to match the 93.4″ one of the Fiero!

I can’t quite make out what the murals are on the top rear panels of what was the engine compartment/trunk originally. I do appreciate the secure tow loops on the back of the chassis, though. Central New Jersey? Perhaps that’s just a Ferrari dealer’s license plate frame, although something in me would love to play naive and pull in to my local Ferrari dealer for an oil change!

Again, the standard to which this fourweird (new term, perhaps?) was built is a little better than normal, with two nice aftermarket bucket seats integrated into a largely intact Fiero interior. I hope the builder followed through and made the gauges read correctly as well. The shifter is attached to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission and we are told the beast runs and drives “great”! Is it worth $9,500 to you to win shows and be way too high at drive-thru windows? Let us know in the comments!

can’t help but hear my mother’s voice in my head saying:

“how amazing it would be if you used your intelligence and creativity for something productive instead of wasting it on something like this”

i still think it’s dang cool

Other than narrowing the grill guard so you don’t clean out the neighbor’s mail boxes this one doesn’t need a thing. Nice build.

I thought the ability to take out mail-box posts was one of the main reasons you got one of these bad boys….I love it! :-) :-)

I normally hate these because they are done to a classic car but since its a Fiero its not a problem. I like it….. remember if mud ain’t flying you ain’t trying 😜

Fyi: The only suggestion would be to put exhaust stacks like on the Dodge Lil Red Wagon to allow going through small sections of water and not bog down 🤔👍👀😜

Done right? Almost. The deer guard is too wide by quite a bit and the exhaust looks like Hell. Other than that, kinda cool redneck mobile.

This would fit perfectly in my neck of the woods..I’d love to take it out in the mud. But is it just the picture or is the left front tire all out of whack?

Route that exhaust to the rear with black headers-that silver really makes it look out of place.

Narrow the grill guard. Make something similar for the rear.

I’d be tempted due to the small size if the body to do an external roll cage. Just think it would complete the look.

Vegaman Dan, Exactly! Just finish it up a bit and roll through the mountains. It looks fun as can be.

This thing would be right at home here in Florida. They’d jack up Grandma’s mobility scooter if they could get away
with it! It’s interesting, but not my cup of
tea. Put a cammo paint job on it and let
Bubba Ray drive it to the homecoming
    dance

Best part is that you can park over a garden sprinkler and fight the engine fires from beneath.

Why??? I guess I’m not in the majority here but I’ve been 4 wheeling since I was 16 and got my first ford bronco!! Part of that fun for me was taking other people with me!!! The bronco fit 4 pretty comfortably and this thing fit 2 and probably not that comfortably!!! I don’t think a sports car would be my first choice to make a 4×4!! I do however commend the person on there ability!! I’m sure it took some doing to get a rear engine car to work on a front engine chassis!!! Sure is a one of a kind!!!

Kooky enough to be fun, but if I were to bring this home, divorce proceedings would ensue.

Del, as hard as it might be to believe after reading my writing (I’ve been around here for over 4 years now) I am both tobacco and drug-free, although I can certainly own up to inhaling my share of automotive exhaust fumes… :-)

Glad to know I can make you laugh!

Lose the deer fender, lengthen the exhaust pipes and drive it.

Looks like those things on the engine deck are supposed to look like the “engine” underneath. Crazy.

Being in Virginia Beach, I am really curious if this has passed inspection and currently has a valid sticker?

A mini monster truck Fiero, how ’bout that. Regardless of personal opinions it took some real talent to pull it off. I hate Fiero’s by the way, since the day they came out.
