What’s It Worth? 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T Project

From the “What’s It Worth?” department here at Barn Finds, is this 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T project car. The asking price is $1,600, it appears here on craigslist, and is located in Troy, Missouri.

The seller says this was an original 440, 4-speed car, equipped from the factory with a Dana 60 rear gear. He says there were just 1,153 made with these options. The car was silver, with black interior and a black vinyl top.

For the low asking price, it goes without saying that all of the high-dollar goodies are gone. But the question is; is it worth putting back? If you’ve been (or know of) an old-school Mopar guy for years, and have access to plenty of stuff that’s been on the shelf for a lot of years, it might be possible to put together a very valuable car here.

No one has suggested that doing so wouldn’t be expensive. This is a basket case in every sense of the word. While there is never any shortage of overpriced cars for sale, lots and lots of them are not worth saving at all. Do you think this one is?

The earlier photos show a body that appears to be decent and workable, although there is no information provided about possible structural rust, condition of floors, etc. The photo above, however, is a bit of a sucker punch. The easy restoration of the body just got a whole lot more difficult and time-consuming. If it can serve as a small consolation, a trunk lid is included, but not shown, according to the seller. So what is this car worth? Is it a future high-dollar collector car? Or just another rusty piece of junk on a trailer? Are you ready to join the Dodge Rebellion for 1967?

I do not believe anyone makes full quarter panels for a 1967 Coronet either.

If anyone knows, please post the information here.

So the Dana rear, 440,and 4 speed are gone plus lots of trim with a caved in quarter panel. Plus it’s not a cuda or a charger, looks to be worth about the asking price.

I’m guessing because of being a Mopar it’s worth what a Mopar guy would pay which would be too much for any of the rest of us.

We are a strange lot. Somehow what it HAD but no longer HAS is relevant to the question of value.

Modern drive train in it would be nice. But that quarter panel…ouch.

Hard to read the vin, if it’s W(Coronet)S(Special)23(2dr hardtop)23 (440 4bbl HP), it’s a real R/T, and if it’s not a total rust out it’s worth $1600. Somebody removed the hood scoop and R/T badges on the interior door sill – makes me think the 150 MPH speedometer, cast grille center section and R/T deck lid badge are gone too, and will not be found under the pile of junk in the car. The thing was probably a parts car for a R/T clone, now it’s valuable enough to try to sell to somebody who wants to try to find all the missing stuff and put it back. Trouble is, obody repops the missing R/T stuff, and you can get patch panels for the lower quarters, but it will come in three pieces to get from the door to the back bumper.

All that said, my first car was a ’67 Coronet 440 two door hardtop, and I love how they look still.

RNR and all – I agree….a b-body Dana is worth the asking price with the part # for sure….looks like it’s been being striped over the years – to bad it doesn’t have the hemi code for the engine………it would be like that Cuda carcass…..
