    1 of 2,414: 1964 Studebaker Daytona

The 1964 model year brought major changes to Studebaker Corp. In December 1963, the company closed its long-time manufacturing plant in South Bend, Indiana, choosing to consolidate production in Hamilton, Ontario (Canada). They also phased out the Lark name, using snappier monikers like Daytona to describe restyled hardtops such as this beautiful ’64 2-door. Located in Canby, Oregon, this trophy winner is available here on craigslist for $15,000. And it’s a cool tip brought to us by “Curvette”!

17k Mile Special Edition: 1981 Pontiac Trans Am

We have seen some really low mile Trans Ams come to market lately. This one is no exception with only 17k miles on the odometer. It is located in Royal Palm Beach, Florida and listed here on Craigslist. We appreciate Tony Primo for bringing this car to our attention. It is a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am that is loaded with options including the Y84 Special Edition package. The seller is asking $59,900 and the car has been listed for about two weeks. This car represents the last year of the second generation Trans Am and the seller believes it is one of the last ones built.

    38K Original Miles: 1990 Ferrari 348 TS

A driver-quality Ferrari may seem like an incredibly risky proposition (it is), but if you’re not already sitting amongst a stable of Italian thoroughbreads, getting into prancing horse ownership may require buying one that isn’t a highly-preserved specimen. You may also have to buy a model that isn’t the most sought-after. If you’re OK with both of these conditions, the 1990 Ferrari 348 TS shown here on craigslist with 38,000 miles may be worth a look. There’s no mention of a recent belt service, so it undoubtedly will need some money spent on preventative maintenance beyond its $75,000 asking price.

Sport Sedan Project: 1988 BMW 535is

Selling a project when it’s halfway through a major refurbishment is always risky, as it could seriously impact the asking price that likely reflects the work that’s already been done. In the case of this 1988 BMW 535is, one of the foremost sports sedans of the 1980s, the seller has done a boatload of work but is now selling the car with the engine and transmission removed and the former disassembled. It sounds like he is simply moving onto other projects, but with major repairs underway that included hot-tanking the engine head and a recently powder coated intake manifold and valve cover, it seems like there were big plans for this E28. Find it here on eBay with bids to $3,250 and no reserve.

One Family Owned: 1978 Ford Mustang King Cobra

In the classic car world, we tend to love finding vehicles that are still in the care of their original owners, or one family owned. The reason for this wasn’t immediately obvious to me over the years, as I used to think it was just a better story. However, time and again, those cars that remain with a single caretaker for years at a time seem to almost always end up in better condition than similar examples that get horse-traded back and forth. This is not universal, of course, but it happens enough that you can see why cars like this 1978 Ford Mustang King Cobra listed here on Facebook Marketplace with single family ownership are so sought after.

  • Fantastic Feline? 1990 Jaguar XJS V12

Fantastic Feline? 1990 Jaguar XJS V12

So viscerally tempting, these beautiful Jaguars. And not just this V12 XJS – it’s every one of them, from the prewar saloons and the SS roadster to the Mark cars, the XKs to the XJs. The genius of Jaguar is the tension in every line, summing to the cohesion of the whole. Here’s Jaguar’s 2 1/2 liter 1947 sports saloon: look at the swell of the roof line, echoing the fender line! It looks fast. Yet that car was a tiddler in the realm of performance, dawdling along at barely 70 mph. But once the similarly-but-differently drawn XJS V12 arrived, speed was always in Jaguar’s résumé. So was trouble. This 1990 XJS is for sale here on eBay, with bidding at $2550 in an apparently no-reserve auction. Can this be a case of “dusting the hands in dismissal”? If you are tempted, might want to take a trailer to Birmingham, Alabama to pick her up. She’ll run, but you know…

  • 1994 Chevrolet Impala SS With 5,100 Genuine Miles!

1994 Chevrolet Impala SS With 5,100 Genuine Miles!

With a few notable exceptions, concept cars rarely find their way into series production. However, Chevrolet broke the mold in 1994 when the Impala SS landed on showroom floors. Unveiled as a concept at the 1992 Detroit Motor Show, the positive response that it garnered prompted the company to add the SS to its model lineup two years later. This Impala is a first-year example that is simply stunning. Its cause is helped by the fact that it has only clocked 5,100 miles, giving it little opportunity to accumulate the imperfections that often develop with age and regular use. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Mitchell G. for spotting the SS listed here at Low Miles No Miles in Butler, Pennsylvania. You could drive it home once you have handed over $37,500 to the seller. (more…)

  • Triple-Black 360: 1978 Dodge Magnum XE

    Triple-Black 360: 1978 Dodge Magnum XE

There is a lot to like about this 1978 Dodge Magnum XE. Its Triple-Black paint and trim combination will appeal to many, while its leather interior gives it a luxurious feel. However, many will find the 360ci V8 under the hood very appealing. However, it could be the seller’s affordable price that will win favor among potential buyers. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Tony P for spotting the Magnum listed here on Craigslist in Chesapeake, Virginia. The seller set their price at $8,950 for a classic that appears to be a turnkey proposition. (more…)

Keep It Perfect: 1974 Mustang II Mach 1

Every cliché you can think of relating to old cars applies to the 1974 Mustang II Mach 1 seen here on craigslist: “Nicest one left” and “Go find another” are just two of those. You can probably think of more, but instead of sitting around thinking, why not make a play for this sorta-classic? Rocco B put us onto this gem found in Wheatridge, CO, and available for an asking price of $10,000, and in case you’re thinking of making an offer, know that this car shows 67,000 original miles and has just had an engine refresh after sitting for more than three decades. • 80’s Muscle: 1987 Buick Grand National

80’s Muscle: 1987 Buick Grand National

There was a significant danger that the legislative requirements of the 1970s, designed to reduce vehicle exhaust emissions, could have led to the permanent extinction of the muscle car sector. Certainly, iconic high-performance models like the Camaro Z28 were mere shadows of their former selves at the end of the decade. However, the backroom boffins in Detroit worked tirelessly to innovate and adapt to new technology. One of their most notable achievements was the 1987 Buick Grand National, a car that evoked the heady days of the 1960s with its exceptional power and performance. This Grand National is a gem, and the first owner loaded it with options to provide a comfortable motoring experience. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Mitchell G. for spotting it listed here at Mecum Auctions. The Buick is set to cross the auction block on Thursday, October 30th, in Fort Worth, Texas. • 4-Door Survivor: 1965 Chevrolet Impala

    4-Door Survivor: 1965 Chevrolet Impala

Here’s a trivia question. What was the best-selling U.S. automobile in 1965? If you answered the Chevrolet Impala, you would be correct. At more than one million cars, it beat the hot new Ford Mustang by nearly double (if you count the so-called 1964 ½ Mustangs that were titled as 1965s). The seller’s car is a 4-door sedan, not as sexy as the Sport Coupe most collectors would prefer. It’s largely original with 61,000 miles and can be found in York, Nebraska, and is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $15,200. Our thanks to Barn Finder T.J. for another cool Bow-Tie tip. Blank Canvas Build: 1993 Chevrolet Blazer 2-Door Project

Two-door SUVs from the ’90s have taken on a cult following, and Chevrolet’s 1500 Blazer sits near the top of that list. This 1993 Chevy Blazer, listed here on craigslist, located in near Tacoma, WA, isn’t a turn-key driver, but for the right enthusiast, it could be the start of a very cool project. Thanks for the tip Curvette!

  • Restored or Original? 1954 Chevrolet 210

Restored or Original? 1954 Chevrolet 210

Chevrolet reworked the styling of its cars in 1953 and simplified the roster in the process. The lineup consisted of the 150, 210, and Bel Air, which would continue with the “Tri-Fives” of 1955-57. The 1954 models were largely a rerun of the ‘53s, and the seller has a potentially low-mileage mid-tier 210, which is either a beautiful original or a nicely done restoration. Located in Cheraw, South Carolina, this two-tone family car is available here on craigslist for $23,500. Once again, Mitchell G. delivers in the tips department. (more…)

  • Very Original: 1960 Pontiac Catalina Vista 4-Door Hardtop

Very Original: 1960 Pontiac Catalina Vista 4-Door Hardtop

The Flattop is considered a classic male short hairstyle that was popular not only in the 1950’s and pre-Beatles 1960’s, but also in the early 1900’s. And according to Wikipedia, “the flattop maintains a contingent of dedicated wearers today” (Pro Football Hall of Famer and broadcaster, Howie Long, comes to mind and has worn his signature flattop for decades). Growing up in the 1960’s, two of my cousins wore flattops very well. When I tried that hairstyle as a ten-year-old in the summer of ‘65, the results weren’t too flattering, no pun intended. I just didn’t have the best-shaped head, elongated face, and according to my barber, my head was a bit lumpy to pull off a flattop. Well, here’s a very-original 1960 Pontiac Catalina 4-door hardtop where the Vista “flat top” roofline looks great and compliments the stylish, squarish, low-and-wide lines of the car beautifully in my opinion. It’s currently located in Belton, South Carolina, and is listed for sale here on Facebook Marketplace for $19,500. The seller also made a walk around video last year when he first purchased the car in Montana (and drove it to South Carolina). Heap How! to our pal, T.J., for sending this fine flat-topped Poncho our way. (more…)

Buried Treasure: 1961 Chevrolet Impala Project

Every once in a while, a listing comes along that reminds us of the raw side of the “barn find” world. This 1961 Chevrolet Impala, now listed here on eBay, isn’t tucked away in a climate-controlled garage or sitting under a dusty car cover. Instead, it’s wedged under a collapsed shed, pinned by a fallen tree, and slowly sinking into the ground. It’s not the kind of project for the faint of heart, but for the right buyer, it could be an unforgettable rescue. Thanks for the tip Mitchell G.!
