Update 9/3/11 – This little Tiger ended up selling for $5,655.
Sunbeam Tigers are great cobra alternatives. They are not as quick and will never be as valuable, but with their 260 V8 they are fun driving cars. This one just popped up on ebay and may not be good for much more than a parts car, but it may go cheap. It is located in Baltimore Maryland with bidding at $200 and six days left on the auction.
It is sad to see such a great car in such terrible condition. The seller claims that the car was running when parked, but it has been sitting under a tarp for many years. The rust is significant so restoration would be a huge undertaking. It does include the factory hardtop and looks to be mostly complete.
The seller does not provide many photos, but here you can see a glimpse of the interior. The interior looks to be mostly there except the driver’s side door panel seems to be missing. We would want to check with the seller if all the missing parts are included.
The Ford 260 V8 engine is in place, but is very rough. This car appears to be a real Tiger and it would just take a quick search to verify that. The question here is, would it be worth trying to restore or is this Tiger too long gone?
I’ve seen worse brought back from the dead, but if you’re not doing your own work. this will get expensive fast.
