This AMC Hornet has been done up for drag racing and from the looks of it, the work was done quite a while ago. The engine was built, the interior stripped, a roll cage added, and some slicks were tucked up under the fenders. I like the ratty drag car thing, but it looks some of the original parts are included in case you want to take this one back to original. You may want to do just that because the SC/360 was a rare car. It was AMCs answer to the high insurance premiums suffered by larger muscle cars. You can read more about them on Hemmings. The SC/360 was able to run 14 second quarter miles stock, so I can’t help but wonder what this little stinger could do. The roll cage makes me think it could have been a sub-11 second car? The seller has tried to sell the car once before but it did not meet their $7,000 reserve. I’m not sure if they have lowered that, but it has been relisted here one eBay with a lower BIN.

I would think with that few of them made parts are hard to come by and definitely not cheap. If I was to buy it I would replace seats with good aftermarket buckets / carpet / leave roll bar in and drive it to cruises on the weekends. Nice Find IMO.
I would like to see more of the Rambler American convertible.
1966 Rambler American convertible when I got her she had a 232 6 popper now She has a AMC 401 with a 727 trans AMC 20 posi !! Had her painted the red like she came !! this old girl will roll !!

No title= no buy, it is a cool car that when restored will look spectacular
One of the last great AMC’s. These were great runners even when stock. I remember my dad being home a green one for the weekend.

Thanks for the great write up Jesse!! Awesome job and your info is spot on !!
Looks like a nice car. With 500 built it is rare too, but the lack of title is a major problem for anybody looking to restore it
Only at $3950 with 2 hours left.
This was my uncles car. He originally purchased it in 1972 from hertz rent a car in or around Washington D.C. He drove it on the street for a few years before it became a strictly track car. Before he sold it in 2000, it was running mid 11’s consistently. As of last year this car is back in our family and is being brought back to her 1/4 mile glory days with the engine being done by the original builder.
