When I first saw this listing, I thought for sure someone was just using eye-catching keywords to draw in page views. As it turns out, this 1973 VW Bug here on eBay is an authentic, period-correct creation known as an Empi GTV. Although primarily a dress-up kit, it’s still one of the coolest special editions of an air-cooled Bug that I’ve seen. The original decal package has somehow survived all of these years, despite the car being disassembled and laid up when the seller found it. Some of the Empi bits include front and rear gravel guards, bumper guards, the rare and desirable Empi Sprint Star wheels, wood trim on the dash and some other small trim pieces. Again, it’s all for looks – but given the desirability of original Empi components, this is an awesome survivor with perhaps some mild investment potential. And it looks the business with dropped spindles!

I’m not sure sure that is a true empi car. It is missing the steering wheel and shifter. All of those parts were offered aftermarket, so it is possible the sticker kit and wheels were thrown on a standard car. The price is fair, and I do like the look of the car
I’ve seen those wheels recently here in oz on a type 3 notchback. Good to know what I was looking at.
i wish the front had not been narrowed or lowered and the rear had not been lowered. i would love to have the EMPI parts. nice find.
Digging the Sprint Stars. Got them on my Ghia.
