The ice cream truck that frequents our neighborhood is a little creepy. It’s more of a cruiser van than a truck really. It bothers me and has made me want to start an ice cream business of my own. Of course, I would want to drive around in something a little more appropriate for the trade. Well, here’s my chance! This 1954 Ford Panel is already setup with a soft serve machine and refrigeration. Parents may not appreciate the barn findy look though, so it will need a fresh coat of white paint. Other than that though, I don’t see any reason why whole flocks of kids wouldn’t run out into the streets when this arrives. If you want to give it a go, it’s located in State College Pennsylvania and is listed here on craigslist for $5,300. Thanks goes to Tory A for the tip!

53 in the header and 54 in the write up.
They couldn’t even get it all the way on the trailer before flipping it…sad.
I don’t think it’s a ’53 considering the fact that the grille is a ’55 Ford truck grille. Although I suppose someone could have changed it after an accident or something.
Buddy friend?
okay…
This truck is exactly like the ice cream truck that used to come down our street back in 1958/1959 when I was 5 going on 6. That guy had every kind of ice cream out at the time and the only one with soft serve ice cream.
You can check out one already restored at the Boyertown Museum of Historical Vehicles, who also built this one. Check out “The Truck Stops Here” Event June 25th,

The ice cream trucks that were around when I was a kid were cool, not these vans driving around with rusted metal, spray painted looking like they abduct and dismember bodies. Just plain creepy.
paint job looks like a Mister Softee ice cream truck. i remember these from when i was young. great find.
Ooh, I remember Mr Softee, Good humor too. Now those trucks were something you looked forward to seeing, the trucks I see coming down the street now look like pedophiles drive them, man, the memories these kids are gonna have of running up to those trucks will put them into a fetal position just walking past the Ice cream isle at Safeway.
