EXCLUSIVE: 1979 Chevrolet C20 4×4 Pickup

Reader Wesley H has done a ton of work to his 1979 Chevrolet C20 and it sure looks great! We will cover what all he’s done to it below, but he made sure this 4×4 will be fun to drive for years to come. If you’d love to give it a good home, you can find it in Blackfoot, Idaho with 75k miles showing and a $15,000 asking price. You can message Wesley via the form below.

To get this truck looking this good, Wesley had to restore the entire cab. He had a professional bodyshop replace the cab corners, floors, the fenders, inner fenders, hood and rocker panels. While it was all apart, they also painted it inside and out. He also had the bed spray lined to keep it looking great. After the paint was done, he installed new windows and replaced all the rubber seals.

As you can see, this truck is as nice on the inside as it is on the outside. Wesley didn’t need to replace everything here, but he went ahead and replaced anything that wasn’t in great shape. As a result, it’s like new. He also went ahead and rebuilt the gauge cluster to make sure everything is working correctly and looks great.

The 350 V8 runs great and does a good job moving this truck around. Wesley doesn’t state whether this is the 155 or 165 horsepower version, but a few bolt-on upgrades would easily make up the difference if it is the lower output model. Chevrolet offered up to a 210 horsepower 454 V8, but the 350 offers a great balance of power and efficiency for on and off-road use!

It looks like Wesley’s truck turned out great, but he’s had his fun with it and is ready for it to go to a new home. He has the original rims with old tires and the original hubcaps, plus a set of aftermarket aluminum rims with brand new tires and both sets come with it. It would cost you considerably more to bring another truck up to this level, so be sure to take a closer look at it and make him an offer via the form below!

    Nice truck but the owner could have done a little better job taping off the engine with the blue rattle can spray.

    C20 = 2wd.

    K20 = 4wd.

    Why does this mistake keep happening?

    It can’t be a C20 if it is 4 wheel drive.

      No Larry, the C denotes a 2 wheel drive while the K denotes the 4 wheels drive.

      The Silverado was an interior package along with the Custom and the Scottsdale.

    Nice truck. Owning one, I don’t know if it’s $15,000 dollars worth of truck, the 4×4 adds some, ( sure could use that today here) but it’s still a ’79 Chevy. On the plus side, mine gets more valuable with every listing. I’m sure geomechs can translate better, but GM went back and forth on their model designations. There’s no better evidence of that than by looking at the Fram bible at the local Walmart. It’s the same truck. American marketing at it’s finest.

    I agree Howard, you seem to have gotten a great deal!
    I really don’t think $15,000 is real far out of line, I am pretty sure the restoration cost at least that and then you got a free truck. Would I pay it? Nope! I am too cheap to pay that lol. But someone will, I am sure. Nicely done!

    Considering the work done and it’s present condition, $15k seems like a fair price in my mind. Remember in the ’80s and ’90s when you could buy a nice muscle car for $10k-$15k and what they’re selling for now? We’re seeing the same thing happening with vintage pickups today. Nice, clean examples will just keep increasing in value, especially pickups in excellent original condition. A ’69 Mach 1 Mustang or a ’70 Chevelle SS is out of my price range today but a nice pickup like this K20 4X4 isn’t. I think that with this Chevy, you can enjoy a very nice vintage pickup today and look forward to a substantial increase in value over time.

    I like the fact we get to see pics of the real floor not just some dirty carpet hiding some surprises… Being a Custom DeLuxe it’d be the bottom line trim level for ’79 that came off the factory floor with vinyl floor covering. This is essentially what I call a TRUCK and as long as it has PB and PS I’m fine with that. Being 4×4 AND a 4spd really adds value in my book. Great K20 from the Famous Potatoes state!

    Only 210hp from a 454?!! I wonder how much hp would be gained replacing the pellet cat converter with a test pipe.

    Beautiful restoration. Great paint and presentation. Worth the price I think.

    It is a nice looking truck! There was a lot of work to get it back in that condition because these trucks seemed to have serous rust problems. If it is a 4X4, 4speed, PS, and PB is should be a fun truck to drive.

    Very nice truck except for that steering wheel? Needs an original.

      Terry,
      That is the original steering wheel for a Custom Deluxe or Scottsdale trim level. Cheyenne and Silverado have the same wheel, but with a taller, narrower horn pad with a fancier emblem.

        There’s another pic of the dash showing an über-ugly Grant wheel. As for Custom Deluxe and Cheyenne having different horn knobs was new to me

    I have almost the exact 1979 Chevy except c20. Aren’t the “K” models the 4×4’s? Also I’m looking to restore mine, it sounds like similar work how much did that cost you for all that work done?
