BF Auction: 1969 Ford F-100 Custom Long Bed

Bid to: $9,000View Result

It may seem a contradiction, but it is possible that a vehicle designed to function as a workhorse can possess style and class. This is perfectly demonstrated by this 1969 Ford F-100 Custom Long Bed. Its mechanical configuration means it could haul some heavy loads, but its stunning two-tone paint and interior create a classic that is a guaranteed head-turner. It features a few creature comforts to make life on the road pleasant, and it has a genuine 52,400 miles showing on its odometer. It is ready to head to a new home, with the owner listing it exclusively here at Barn Finds Auctions.

If ever a truck had the “wow” factor, this F-100 fits that description. Its panels wear a striking two-tone paint combination that makes a bold statement. While it might stand out, it does so without becoming crass or distasteful. It exudes an air of style and class, but the aftermarket five-spoke wheels add a touch of purpose and genuine muscle. I’ve scrutinized the photos and can’t find anything of which to be critical. I initially thought there were some patchy spots in the paint, but how wrong I was! It has such a depth of shine that what I actually saw were background reflections. When a paint job achieves that illusion, you know there’s nothing to worry about. The panels are as straight as an arrow, and the gaps deserve mention on what is, after all, a commercial vehicle. They are more consistent than we often see, suggesting someone took time and effort over the panel alignment. The chrome sparkles as impressively as the paint, the remaining bright trim is excellent for a vehicle of this type and age, and the glass is spotless. For those considering recreational pursuits, the tow hitch makes it an ideal candidate for hauling a trailer, race car, or boat.

If this truck’s exterior makes a positive impression, its interior continues that trend. The bench seat wears a stunning Orange and White leather cover that adds a touch of class and comfort. The remaining trim looks excellent, as do the painted surfaces. The dash sports a stitched leather cover in good order, while a Black rubber mat covers the floor. The gauges feature clear lenses and crisp markings, and the interior has no apparent needs. For those contemplating long distant adventures, the modern stereo with a floor-mounted speaker box should ensure life doesn’t become boring.

Powering this F-100 is the 360ci FE V8 producing 215hp and 327 ft/lbs of torque. The rest of the drivetrain components include a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. The overwhelming strength of the 360 is its power and torque delivery, which occurs extremely low in the engine’s rev range. There are few engines better suited to life under the hood of vehicles of this caliber than this V8. If potential bidders are looking for an accomplished tow vehicle or load carrier, this is a strong candidate. Its engine bay presents well, and it doesn’t flatter to deceive. The truck runs and drives perfectly, with the aluminum radiator ensuring it does so without raising a sweat. It has a genuine 52,400 miles on its odometer, suggesting it should provide its new owner with years of reliable service.

This 1969 Ford F-100 Long Bed offers a new owner a world of possibilities. It could serve as a workhorse thanks to its impressive carrying capacity. It would make an eye-catching shop truck or promotional vehicle for the right business. However, the hitch receiver makes it the ideal candidate for a tow vehicle. Whether for commercial or pleasure purposes, it should haul almost any load effortlessly. If you are considering a summer adventure, hitching up a trailer and hitting the road behind the wheel of this F-100 could prove irresistible. If it does, it could be worth submitting a bid or two. Who knows, but today could be your lucky day.

Nice ride! Back in 67 my Dad had a 59 short bed. He let me drive it to school on occasion. My friends didn’t want to be seen in a pickup truck so I’d drop them off a block from school. Today I’d have the coolest ride in the parking lot. I tell those same friends that I was ahead of my time.

Like the truck, very nice color combo …hate the wheels imo. She needs white steel wheels and poverty caps.

F100 w/360 should get minimum $10,000. A 4wd would snag $20,000 and an f250 4wd would take $30,000. The market is crazy over these 5th generation trucks.

As I recollect, the gas tank is a death sentence in a t-bone due to location directly behind the drivers seat. I believe there was a retrofit design for safety on the existing trucks, but it lead to the redesign and future tank placement. Like the Pinto, too many lawsuits were the reason for the change and not the concern for public safety which led to the popularity of Ralph Nader.

There was no retrofit because there was no problem with the location of the tank.

We don’t need no stinkin’ safety.

I bought one just like this in 1987 from the original owner. It had a 390 with a C-6 behind it and had factory air conditioning. The truck was like new. It’s definitely one that got away that shouldn’t have. The F-100 suspension trucks rode like a car….if you needed a truck for heavy hauling, you should have bought an F-150. I agree with Maggy, the wheels gotta go. Mine had the original full LTD type wheel covers with inch wide whitewalls, which I thought gave it a classy look. I’m old.

In 1976 my friend Harry Coucher had a blue 1968 with the 360 and you could not kill that truck. The best Ford I ever seen. The oil stayed clean when changing at 3K. Valvoline to me is the very best you could get back then. Or Mobil 30 weight.

Those were the best trucks Ford ever made.

Had one of these.Bought it new in 69. Mine had the 302v8 a great motor 3 speed automatic a/c under the dash. I hauled a lot of cattle and horses with it.
