Blue Life: 1968 Ford Mustang

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Acapulco, Mexico is known for a great travel destination, full of beaches and hopping nightlife. Most fly there, but if a ride is in order then this might be it. Well, in due time. This 1968 Alcapulco Blue Ford Mustang won’t be going anywhere fast but could come home with you sometime soon. If you are interested in traveling to Warwick, Rhode Island and exchanging $2,750 for this machine, you can find it here on Craigslist. Thank you to AMXBrian for the tip.

The car is said to have the original V8 engine and transmission that is claimed to turn freely. It has factory air conditioning and deluxe seat belts. There is a lot of rust and the floors will need to be replaced. There is no title for the car. That may prove to be a sticky situation in getting it restored and roadworthy, but not impossible. Plenty of extra parts accompany this car although there is not a defined list of what those parts are.

Before road tripping to Mexico, this car will need a nice interior. The parchment colored interior is in decent shape. Some serious cleaning should get it shined up nicely. New interior can always be put in as well. The center console is out of the car, which makes sense due to the floors. A white interior would go nicely with the white vinyl top that adorns the roof of the car. The hood looks like it was taken off to be stripped of paint.

A pony ride south of the border in the blue ride is a dream. It might be a few steps closer than most other projects though. Considering most of the parts are out or off, it makes the steps of assessing the damage and planning the restoration much easier. There are plenty of aftermarket Mustang parts.  Lastly would be to paint it in a stunning shade of Acapulco Blue, just like the water on the beaches of the city it gets the name from.

First of all, nobody goes to Acapulco anymore. You should not recommend that anybody does.

It is one of the most dangerous places in Mexico at the moment and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

It is really too bad all those resorts are completely empty.

Wife had a 67 Mustang coupe in Acapulco Blue 6 cylinder automatic. I went upside down on that one to make her happy and it did for about 2 years then the frame rails the bodyshop over looked began to come apart causing the steering box to separate from the frame. We let our son trade it away for a lifted Bronco for him and the wife ended up with a 95 GT in Sapphire Blue. IMHO this featured car is a 1K car at the most.

Rustang in the rust belt. Looker over good don’t forget the plenum. Every square inch you can see Like a rat–for every thing you can see, there’s more you can’t see.

Good luck to the new owner.

I’d be more interested in the 69, in the background…
