Canadian Classics

We love to see the cars you guys have or have had in the past! Reader Jamie G shared his and his family’s collection and projects with us and it looks like they have some interesting stuff. I will let him tell you more about all of these cars! From Jamie G – Hi there, I thought that I’d send along some pics of cars that my father, brother, and I have in our current collection. Some are in the process of restoration, some on the back burner, and some that are pretty much parts cars that are slowly returning to Mother Earth! We are muscle car fans through and through (all makes) but have found that Bowties are our passion. We’ve owned a LOT of cars through the years, and have passed projects onto others that were looking for their dream car too. Here’s a few pics and descriptions of some of the cars we currently have.

image1

1965 Impala convertible – 283, 2 barrel, power glide, power everything. Butternut yellow, black top, black interior. It was rotted so bad when we pulled it from the woods that we held it together with ratchet straps to get it on the trailer.

The car that started it all for me, bought in the summer of 1993 when I was 15 years old. Hard to tell what it is, but, it’s a 1974 Nova SS, 350, 4 speed, in dash tach, 3:42 posi rear. It was in the process of a restoration (new floors, trunk pans, and frame rails, quarters were fitted and tacked on) then the garage burnt! Lost TONS of parts.

image4

The other car that was in the fire as well. 1973 Nova SS, 350, auto on the floor, buckets, hatchback, 3:42 posi. This was my brothers car that was going for paint the following week! The black goo on the doors was a sheet of plastic that was hung above it to keep dust off of it. Both Nova’s were stripped of usable parts and put out to pasture! It was a sad day indeed.

image5

1972 El Camino SS – 454, 4 Speed LS5 car, 12 bolt 3:31 posi. Frame and body were completely shot when we bought it. It may not look TOO bad in the picture, but trust me when I say that it’s f@$&ed!! The passenger quarter won’t even attract a rare earth magnet (they’re pretty strong), so it’s safe to say that the bondo and paint are basically holding this thing together.

1967 Chevelle 2 door post – 327, 275 hp 4 speed car. Same fate as the El Camino.

image7

1971 Nova – 6 cyl. Auto. Pulled from an island that sat since 1976 because the alternator went. Trim parts were only salvageable items.

image8

That’s a 1972 Nova in there. 1972 Nova SS (my car) 350, 400 auto from Arizona Restoration started.

image9

And here’s the front frame (spare frame on car now) that’s being restored.

image10

Sorry for the crappy pic but it’s BURIED!!! 1967 Pontiac Beaumont SD (Sport Deluxe) 2 door hardtop – Original 396, 325 HP  400 turbo, bucket seats, 12 bolt posi. Found in an old gravel pit. Have everything but motor and trans. Also going to be restored. This is considered the Canadian Chevelle. Same body and drivetrain as the Chevelle, just different grill, dash, trim and tail lights.

image11

And another! Found at the back pasture of a farmer’s field. 1967 Beaumont SD – 396, 325 HP, 350 turbo, bucket seats (strato buckets) vinyl top, 12 bolt 2:73 posi (yes a posi with tall gears). Why such a tall ratio you ask?!….Because he was a bootlegger and the tall gears would outrun anything!!!! 396 (CE block) was in his garage with the transmission! There were only 451 of these cars made in 1967 and we have two!

image13

My ride in high school (20 years ago) that is stored in one of our shops. 1967 Chevelle SS clone – Small block, 4 speed, 12 bolt, buckets. Lots of rear tires used up on this back in the day!! It’s next on the restoration list.

image14

My father’s 1968 Nova – Ivy gold interior and exterior. Originally 6 cyl., powerglide, bench seat car. Motor was built last week (that’s why the fenders are off for install), complete suspension kit, lowered, you name it, it’s been done.

image15

Here’s the motor… Not bad for a 70 yr old guy!!!

image16

And here’s my brothers car… 1969 Nova – Small block, 4 speed with complete Hotchkiss suspension, Custom interior, the list goes on and on. This thing is SWEET, and it’s not done yet!!!!

Hope you like what I’ve shown so far. Still more cars in some of the garages, but I couldn’t find the right keys for the locks. Update to follow!!! I’ll get more pics and update you when I can spend more time getting them. I live 2 hrs away from where they are so when I get time I usually forget to take pics. – Jamie from Nova Scotia, Canada

P.S. Found this near a friend’s place in Maine, trying to get this one too for my wife!!! 1969 Camaro 350, auto. Original car, original owner!!

I spotted the Maine inspection sticker on the Camaro before I read that it was from Maine. That sure looks familiar, think I have seen that one before since I am from Maine.

I was scrolling through the first bunch of pictures thinking “what a load of junk field cars”… then it got really interesting. Shame to hear about the fire. The last few cars are beautiful.

I live in Central Nova Scotia, just north of Halifax . Any chance of taking a look at your collection, not to buy, just to see.

Thanks for sharing your treasures with us. I’m a Ford man, but I wish that they could all be saved, because once they’re gone, they’re gone. You have done some gorgeous work there–keep it up. Congratulations on living the dream!

I feel your pain. I lost a 1965 Corvair Corsa 140/4-speed convertible to a garage fire about 25 years ago. I’ve seen more than my share of cars too rusty to save, one of which (an older restoration at that!) was driven ’til the day it failed inspection due to inoperable rust!

I’m jealous! Two Beaumont’s and a shit ton of nova’s. Wanna adopt a 42yr old red neck who has obsessive car disorder?

I own a 1972 that I’d purchased from New Hampshire and had shipped to Georgia. Driver her from Florida to Washington state.
