Seller’s Description: 1954 Kaiser Manhattan For Sale

This is a very rare and unique 1954 Kaiser Manhattan 4 door sedan. It is a very solid driver quality car that turns heads. We have recently put much work and money into the car, including an updated Chevy 350 V8 and 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission. Many parts are new including tires, battery, alternator, intake, distributor, brake master cylinder and calipers, fuel tank and pump, electric cooling fan system, etc. The car runs and drives good, perfect for cruising. The brakes have been updated to power front discs. It drives just as a typical large car from that era. The engine is very strong, lots more power than the car needs.

Interior: The interior is clean, seat upholstery and carpet are nice. The dash cluster area could use restoration. Speedometer is not working. The headliner has some stains and could use replacement. The seats and carpet have been thoroughly steam cleaned.

Electrical system has been switched to modern 12 volts. A few things will still need to be converted from 6 volts to 12 volts, including the windshield wipers and radio.

Body: The car is very solid. The only rust we have found is a small area in the rocker panel under the driver’s door. The trim, chrome, is very decent for it’s age. Glass is good with the exception of a barely noticeable stone chip in the windshield. The paint is mostly very good, with the exception of the hood and some scratches and dings. The hood does have a dented area in the front.

Drive train: Has a 1996 Chevy Silverado 350 engine with roller cam and the fast burn vortec heads. It has a Holley 600 cfm 4 barrel on a Jegs performance aluminum intake. Fuel is delivered from a new custom made fuel tank, through an electric pump. Cooling system consists of the original style radiator with an electric cooling fan. It has a new HEI distributor, Accell pug wires and fresh plugs. Belts and hoses are new. Exhaust consists of cast iron manifolds with dual glass pack style mufflers. Transmission is an over drive 700R4 with fresh filter and fluid. Rear axle is original. Battery is new.

Chassis: Frame and suspension are all original. Front brakes have been updated with a Speedway style front disc conversion. Rear brakes are original style drum. The master cylinder has been converted to vacuum power on the firewall. Tires are brand new Nexen white walls.

This is a nice cruiser quality car. It is no perfect like a $50,000 concourse show car. It still needs a few things sorted out as you may expect with a 65 year old car. The car is easily worth the modest reserve, and the work we have done on the car could not be duplicated near the reserve price.

Title: This car does have a rebuilt salvage title as a result of an insurance claim from the 2016 Baton Rouge flood event. The car has been inspected by the state and now has a clear Mississippi rebuilt title, ready to transfer into the buyer’s name.
