Seller’s Description: 1958 Edsel Citation 2 Door Hardtop. This Citation (top of the Edsel lineup) for 1958 is 1 of only 2,535 2Dr Ht’s produced and is not a commonly seen vehicle.
This car is all original and not modified in any way, I had it shipped here to Western New York from central Kansas last year. It appears to have been residing in the west and mid-west its whole life till now.
This car is about 95% complete just missing some miner trim pieces.
A very solid car with just minimal rust on passenger side and fenders
The underside and floors are in incredibly great shape still showing original paint and just very light surface rust. No rot or holes in trunk or floors anywhere!
Frame and body mounts are in great shape
Both front fenders do have rot out under the headlight pods (Common to these cars) and should be replaced or repaired.
It is estimated that this car has not been run in over 30 years and as such the engine is stuck and sadly does not turn over.
The engine is Edsel’s biggest motor, The 410 Cu. In. was only offered in 1958 and only in the top of the line Citation! It’s basically the same as It’s cousin the Lincoln 430 cu. in. making parts fairly easy to come by. Included is what appears to be a correct rebuild Holley carburetor and original air cleaner & new battery.
The condition of the pushbutton automatic transmission is unknown although it is currently in Neutral so vehicle can be moved.
The interior is original with very good condition seats and door panels. Front seat is from another 58 citation and has a different color fabric but is a correct seat for this 2 Dr model. Needs carpet, headliner and new dashpad. Included also a rare original Town & Country signal seeking radio specifically for this car!
Trunk is rock solid with no rot or holes anywhere
All glass is in great shape except Driver door window is cracked (Flat glass, easily replaced)
All windshield trim (In/Out) missing in photos is included (in trunk) as well as wiper arms. It appears that the windshield may have been replaced but installation was not completed.
Car rolls and steers but does not run or have brakes
A great candidate for restoration or retro-mod this Edsel Citation 2-DR Hardtop is a true barn-find untouched time capsule the kind that is very rare to find these days!
