BF Classified: 1959 Porsche Speedster 356 Replica

Seller’s Description: Porsche 356 Black Outlaw Speedster C recreation by Custom Motor Coach and is based on a 1970 VW Beetle pan. I believe it was originally built in 1990 and now is registered in California as a 1959 Porsche 356 Speedster special construction, no smog required vehicle. The car is powered by a 1600 AS41 newly rebuilt engine that is dual port, dual relief, it has a single carburetor with Monza style exhaust. The transmission is a manual 4-speed IRS type with reverse lockout shifter, brakes are front disc and rear drum. Custom widened steel wheels all around with new 205/50 ZR 15 tires. All the gauges work, all the lights work, gas tank was boiled out and lined. Seats are black vinyl and the carpet is black. Doors, hood, and decklid shut nicely. The car has a 4 point roll bar. There is a top and bows but needs repair. There is no tonneau cover. There is a crack in the windshield but the car comes with a new one. Fun to drive and an attention-getter. No radio, no air, no power steering, and no rollup windows. This is truly a driver quality car, not a 100 point show car.

Replicas are always the best way to go for one of these, so much better than “original” in every way.

Absolutely! Unless you want a totally stock — and thus expensive — original, and are willing to put up with the quirks, maintenance and parts woes, and worry that someone is going to ding it in a parking lot, replicas are a much better deal.

The best, in my opinion, is the Beck 550, the absolute finest “kit” I’ve ever seen or driven. In fact, when I finally got a chance to drive a real, original 550, I was disappointed. The Beck was worlds better….

For a lot less coin , you can get a lot more car
Miata, boxster, solstice,mr2, sky, maybe not the same look but better in every other way !
Topless with a real roof, real windows, a structure that can protect u in case of an accident , cause accidents do happen and driving in a cracker car offers no protection whatsoever
Dont get me wrong, i like old cars but in many cases the newer ones are simply better overall

Super cute, but for my money, I’d rather have an original Karman Ghia than a replica anything. My dream car is a ’65 Porsche Speedster, so this definitely has a bit of appeal …
