Seller’s Description: This rare 1963 Studebaker Lark Wagonaire Daytona is one of the most unusual longroof models of any era, owing to its two-year-only sliding rear roof.
Yes, a wagon that can haul tall items like a refrigerator! Or carry the waving homecoming king and queen in a parade! As revolutionary as the concept was, it has only been seen in one other production model since — the GMC Envoy XUV.
This Wagonaire sports the top-of-the-line Daytona package, which includes a 283ci (4.64L) V8 engine with a column shift automatic transmission and Studebaker-badged chrome hubcaps.
This highly-optioned long roof includes dealer-installed air conditioning and a chrome roof rack. A passenger-side vanity is found in the dash, and sports a mirror, makeup holders, and a vanity light that still lights up! The original Studebaker-branded AM radio is also in the dash for a classic stock look.
The gray primer has been protected from the elements by indoor storage for the last several decades. A previous owner began a conversion to electronic ignition that has not been completed. (Original distributor is included in the spare parts.) The engine cranks with the key but does not fire at this time.
The tailgate shows some rust (as seen in the photos), which is common for most wagons of the era. The rest of the body is quite straight but may need a little attention prior to paint. There is some surface rust in the spare tire well, and the gas tank shows several pinholes (brand new tanks are available for $450 through Studebaker parts suppliers). All glass is in good condition.
Missing items include the middle seat frame and rear bumper. The rest of the vehicle appears complete. Spare parts as seen in the photos will accompany the wagon.
This Wagonaire is ready for you to complete the restoration and is offered at $6,000 (or best offer) with pickup in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
