Seller’s Description: Pillarless 6 window sedan. Factory gold paint. Beige leather/gold brocade interior. West Texas car by way of California sometime in the 1970s. 429ci, TH400 auto trans.
A good starting point for resto or parts car for a coupe, convertible restoration. Recently pulled from storage. It was parked in 1979 with a leaky radiator and left for the last 40 years. I recently hauled it out and brought it to my garage where I soaked down the cylinders for several days, turned the motor by hand (it was free), cleaned out the carb, fuel pump, and supply lines. Replaced points & condenser, plug wires, etc… Primed it up and ran it. The engine checks out well with good compression on all eight cylinders. Ran it for a few minutes several different times and drove it around the block (with no brakes) under its own power and backed it into its present spot. That said, the car will need to be gone through completely before attempting to drive it more than a few feet. Most the parts (except the radiator) are present. The driver’s side fender skirt is in the trunk. Keys are in the ignition.
If you know these cars, they are solidly built. This one is no exception. The sheet metal is very straight with a few small dings here and there (worst is a creased dent in the front passenger door above the rocker panel). The paint has worn off of the hood, trunk, and roof but no bubbling rust. Most all trim is present. Doors function, lights work, lenses are intact. The hood has a badly adjusted hinge on one side and presently does not sit flush but can be made to close with the proper adjustment.
The interior is all there but pretty dry rotted, top back of the rear seat, parcel shelf, and cushion on driver’s side especially. But, there’s enough there to use as a template for reupholstering. The headliner is toast. Carpets have mildew in footwells. Floor pans are intact but likely soft. Would certainly take some work but the car is in restorable condition. Fix it up, rat rod it, drop it, or if needed part it out as a donor for a restoration. Has a good drivetrain and many useable parts, trim, glass, etc… No Title. Can be inspected and cleared by El Paso DPS. Happy to reply with details. Car is located in Marfa, Tex.
