Seller’s Description: When I heard it from a friend, who heard from a friend that his elderly neighbor was considering selling her 1964 230SL Pagoda, I had to check it out. After getting her contact information I called her to make a time to check the pagoda in person. She told me that she was getting too old to drive the car and would I be interested in buying it. She explained that she exported the car from Germany in 1980. Thus, a true European model. After agreeing on a price, I bought the car with the intention of restoring it. That never happened. I retired and move to Florida and brought it with me.
During my ownership, I repaired the vitals to make it a good daily driver. It’s a 230SL Pagoda
Repairs
1. Replace clutch plate 5/19
2. Replace clutch pressure plate 5/19
3. Replaced fuel sending unit 5/19
4. Replaced suspension components and shocks 5/1
5. Replace flywheel 5/19
6. Replaced brake booster 5/18
7. Recent oil change
Good stuff:
1. Runs great
2. Shifts great
3. No cracks in the glass
4. Most gauges work including gas, oil, temperature, and speedometer (it’s in kilometers)
5. Exhaust system in good shape. (Great sounding exhaust)
6. No leaks with the removable hardtop, it fits snug and is in very good condition
7. Interior has been replaced and is in very good shape
8. Tires were new, ten years ago, and show little wear.
9. New ragtop, never installed.
10. Fuel injection works as it should
11. All lights and blinkers work as well as the windshield wipers
12. Receipts for all work done during my ownership. I also have export/import records from 1980
Bad stuff: (that I know of)
1. Terrible paint re-spray (it looks ok until you get closeup)
2. Original ragtop needs to be replaced and is non-functional.
3. Evidence of Bondo in the rockers and it shows.
4. Rust spots underneath the chassis
5. Fluid leaks under engine and differential.
6. Aftermarket radio but no antenna.
7. No key to lock the doors from the outside.
8. Missing proper hubcaps (dog dishes).
