Seller’s Description: NON-RUNNING 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. 1 of 791 Galaxie 500 convertibles built for the 1966 model year with the 240CID inline 6-cylinder engine.

Three-on-the-tree manual transmission, possibly a 1-of-1 car, but Marti reports don’t start until 1967, so that can’t be confirmed. The car was originally custom ordered and sold new by Swanson Ford of Bettencourt, Iowa. I bought it about a year ago from a collector here in NorCal.

Manual steering, manual brakes, manual windows, no AC, functional AM radio and power operated top in good shape. There is some bondo in the body panels (see pics), but the chassis and rockers are solid. Paint is mostly factory original with good shine and nice patina. Interior is 100% original.

The engine will start, but won’t idle. It has low compression in three cylinders, sticky lifters and clogged/blocked oil galleries. Needs a full rebuild, or replaced with a crate motor. Transmission, brakes, steering, and the rest of the mechanicals are all in good working order.

This Galaxie is your blank canvas if you’re looking to build a bitchin’ ratrod convertible with a crate 302, 427 side-oiler, TKO 5-speed manual gearbox, Hotchkiss suspension kit (they have a full four-link kit for ’66 Galaxies), Wilwood brakes, big Wheel Vintiques steelies with baby moons… paint your own picture.

More pics available upon request. I don’t need help selling it. I’m happy to work with the right, real buyer, but NO LOWBALLERS please. Email me your phone number so that we can talk on the phone and arrange a viewing in person, or by FaceTime. CASH ONLY, NO TRADES.
