In 1941 Fred Gibson SR a brilliant chemical engineer with a large young family and his wife expecting was called upon as a civilian to leave his family and travel to England to learn the secret formula for magnesium that the English had stolen from the Germans and return to the united states’ and produce as much magnesium as possible to even the field against the Germans without that effort the English didn’t stand a chance he later went on to found P.E.P. Con in Henderson NV that produced all of the Rocket fuel for the space race years later after enjoying the Bronco it stayed in the family and his grandson Jim Gibson took over in the drivers seat of the Bronco he became a three term mayor of Henderson and is the current county commissioner of Clark county turning the clock back twenty five years ago the Bronco was stuck in a garage bay at commissioner Gibson good friend Bob Elliss who’s family had the auto auction he founded snap towing Nevada pick a part the reason I mentioned this is with Bob selling 15,000 cars a year thru the auction all the vehicles being shuffled around with the tow company for all those years that Bronco remained in that bay untouched for all that time how many people can say they have a great friend like Bob I guess I can because I was lucky enough to meet Bob by chance he still works seven days a week goes to his office 4:00 am goes on a several mile power walk even though he retired over fifteen years ago and sold out to insurance auto auction IAA he had noticed me losing my mind in the Nevada summer heat trying to figure out why my lly duramex wouldn’t run I’m talking a month Duramax owners you understand he stopped by and genuinely asked if there was anything he could help me with I was thinking gas can and match but it gave me that lift up and confidence to keep going and finally got it going in passing he mentioned commissioner Gibson Bronco I had no idea who Bob was just a nice guy Gibson there was a road and a judge I had been in front of yep the commissioner brother well one thing led to another so a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to get this vurtual Time capsule out clean it up serviced it
new oil fresh fuel by passed the manual fuel pump with electric new battery cleaned carb air in the tires bob came out he cranked Ii I primed the carb ran a little rough for a few minutes they the dang thing idled like it ran yesterday I’m very grateful to have been a part of this and I believe in things having a story behind them and this is the story of the 68 Bronco that was purchased by a true American Patriot Fred Gibson Sr .
It’s far from perfect but what an amazing history this is better than the most expensive frame off restoration money can buy this is absolutely priceless.
