Seller’s Description: 1969 Chevelle SS V8 Malibu Sports Coupe in rare Daytona Yellow with factory A/C. This car has had one owner (my father, was involved with a funny car pit crew in the early 70s). The majority of the Chevelle’s 80,432 miles were accumulated driving from track to track in the eastern U.S. Chevelle was used as the funny’s chase car. It is a partial numbers matching engine with several main original parts still in possession. See slideshow on YouTube for complete list of pics detailing what is included with the listing: Copy/paste into web browser >>> https://youtu.be/4vmGRGvkSMs
Car rolls and steers great while in neutral, tires hold air. The stock manifold, carburetor, radiator fan, and air filter cover were swapped out (current manifold is Weiand aluminum, Holley carb), -same with the short block with another Chevy factory block from 1971 (number CE161681) during the engine upgrade (original motor number TO525JE). Tachometer, hydraulic lifters. Included in the pictures is the original Chevrolet Motor Division label affixed to the car upon completion of manufacturing. Note the original factory four season air-conditioning, strato-bucket seats (w/lap belts and front shoulder belts all in excellent working condition) and original sport-styled steering wheel. The car has sat in closed garage for last 44 years (not including recent professional hauler transport to my residence) without attempting to start it. In good shape is the original exterior vinyl top. In great shape are the interior components right down to the original carpeting and floor mats. Fenders are in good shape, hood and trunk deck too. Less than 3,000 69 SSs made with Daytona Yellow.
Also included but not pictured are the original Chevelle owner’s manual, original vehicle warranty with protect-o-plate, AM-FM radio operating instructions, GM ignition lock system guide, original Chevrolet dealer window sticker, City of Chicago application and vehicle license, 1969 City of Chicago vehicle window sticker (unused), -and of course original title with one owner.
Chevrolet steering wheel cap was conveniently “borrowed” by funny car driver. Front-left wheel center beauty cone is missing and presumed to now be part of the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago. Passenger door latch won’t catch the door frame, -easy fix, nothing missing. Glove compartment basket is in great shape inside the car but is unattached (glove box door works just fine). There’s rust erosion around the wheel wells, in particular lower quarter panels (during the car’s driving days there was some water pooling at base of back window where it meets the trunk, which would find its way down the sides to the base of the panels). The engine is coated in common road dirt, as noted by the orange paint on the short block picture that was easily exposed with dish soap and water.
