Seller’s Description: The early 70s were the absolute height of the Muscle Car Era. All of the Detroit manufactures had entries in virtually every segment of the market. Detroit was where it was at! The sound of Motown was in the air, on your radio, and out the exhaust tips of your car. This unique era of automotive muscle and class would come to an end in the mid-70s due to the oil crisis followed by the first round of emission control requirements. Fortunately, a few of the cars that make world exciting in those days made it through to today and we have one that is a great example of that exciting era in American car history.
This gorgeous Plymouth GTX was given a comprehensive restoration in 2008. The work included: a complete restoration of the unit body and a full paint job, a complete rebuild of its 375 HP/ 440 cu.in. V-8 engine, and a rebuild of its legendary Torque Flite automatic transmission. The interior was also completely refurbished as were all of the key systems in the car, from its air-conditioning to its 8-track, push-button radio. Finished in Blue fire Poly, with a matching blue interior. It features white side stripes, a raised hood with hood pins and black stripes, a black rear wing, white side stripes, and 15” styled steel chrome wheels shod in Goodyear Eagle II tires.
The GTX was the gentleman’s performance car of the Chrysler family. It was a truly powerful car, but with a touch of luxury. Its interior features bucket seats in the front, a center console, wood grain trim, and a unique Tic-Toc-Tach. It even has a remote control driver’s side rear view mirror! While this car will not respond to voice commands, it has a voice that will make your heart beat faster.
Its full restoration was carried out under the loving eye of its last owner and was completed in 2008. After that, it was driven only by him and stored in a heated garage. For a very powerful car, it led a very calm and pampered life for the last 13 years. Even to this very day, the mileage on its odometer is an almost unbelievably low, 39,529 miles! Unfortunately, its loving owner passed away last year, so now this fine car is looking for a new owner to appreciate its design, performance, and authenticity.
This Plymouth GTX is a car that is still capable of doing the quarter mile in under 14 seconds. It looks and sounds like nothing built today.
