Seller’s Description: This AMX was featured as a project here on BarnFinds but didn’t find a home. https://test.barnfinds.com/1-of-825-1972-amc-amx-401-v8/ We then undertook a refurbishment most of the way back to stock. The OEM 401 Ram Air motor has been pumped up a bit but to what extent, is not known. A Ford 9 inch is fitted and a 4 link was planned. We have the original posi rear end that came with the GO-Pack and the 4 link setup for the Ford. It runs great and seems very healthy. Seems the prior owner had some racing in mind.
This AMX is a P1 paint code which some AMC people say is one of eight built-in 1972. The exterior was treated to a sympathetic restoration of a very solid, rust-free car. The bodywork is laser straight. The paint is two-stage black with a 6 stack of clear. Color sanding and polish have revealed a very reflective, glossy finish. The split vinyl roof has new fabric.
GO-Pack equipped. Fiberglass hood, Ram Air, Posi, Tic Toc Tach
The freshened interior looks nice though the seat fabric looks to be a departure from OEM.
AC car. The compressor is not attached but is included.
Brake systems have all been done along with tune and lubrication as normal.
