Seller’s Description: Unique opportunity to purchase this unfinished project. Ferrari 250 GT SWB body build in the making. Left-hand drive shortened Ferrari 400 chassis used that was originally purchased from New Jersey already as a rolling chassis. The chassis is shortened correctly at the rear and joined as if it was original factory done to the 2400 mm SWB wheelbase. It comes with a complete engine for that chassis and a 5-speed manual gearbox that fits this engine.
All complete suspension and rolling with era correct tires. Correct SWB front scoop on the bonnet. The body was purchased in Italy and appears to be an exchange/remanufactured aluminum-made one back in the days as a replacement body. The subframe skeleton body shape has been re-done to suit body lines and semi-welded together with lots of hours required following the curvatures of the aluminum body.
Some of the aluminum body panels require remanufacturing/shaping by a coachbuilder depending on the buyer’s opinion to use them or not. The doors need to be manufactured to suit. It has a correct front glass and fitted with a rubber seal. Have front Marchal lights and chrome rings, front glass, door handles, and remade door hinges as per the original concept. The engine is F101 No: 397 with good compression, see minimal wear on cam lobes. Comes with a starter motor, chassis has all original VIN tags and matching stamped numbers in the engine bay. The rear trunk lid is shaped but needs to be formed into the gaps.
Have the certificate of Title State of New Jersey and valid Australian import approval. Dash is new from GTO Engineering for the left-hand drive to suit. No steering box but all arms springs, shocks, hubs, etc. The tires are new (Michelin 205/70 VR 15XWX )on dummy setup steelies to determine final offsets to then lace suitable wire wheels to suit. Once finished it would be a great achievement for the purchaser. The price listed is USD, however, some negotiation can be discussed further with a genuine buyer of interest.
