This 1978 Porsche 911SC has reportedly spent much of its life in California, where it was acquired by the seller in 2012 and subsequently relocated to Florida. Work has since included a repaint in brown and a reupholstered brown interior, and additional features include 16″ Fuchs wheels, a sunroof, foglights, Coco floor mats, and a Blaupunkt radio with a CD changer. Power comes from a 3.0-liter flat-six mated to a five-speed manual transaxle, and recent service includes installation of an airbox relief valve, a replacement starter motor, a rebuilt warm-up regulator, and more. This 911SC is offered with factory literature, maintenance logs, service records, a tool kit, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The body was reportedly repainted in its current shade of brown in 2017 by Legends Classic Car Restoration in Panama City, Florida. The seller notes that the hood shocks, weatherstripping, and sunroof cables and guides were replaced at that time, while the windshield was replaced in 2016. Additional exterior features include foglights, US-spec headlights and rear bumperettes, and a single exhaust outlet.
Fuchs-style 16″ forged alloy wheels feature body-colored centers and anodized lips and are mounted with Kumho Ecsta Supra tires measuring 205/55 up front and 225/50 at the rear. Braking is handled by discs at all four corners.
The interior was reportedly refreshed by Billy’s Trim Shop in Panama City, Florida with reupholstered brown leather seating and replacement carpeting. Amenities include power-operated windows, Coco floor mats, a Blaupunkt radio with a remote Pioneer CD changer, and fold-down rear seats. The seller reports that the driver’s window periodically sticks in place.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 150-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 161k miles, approximately 15k of which have been added by the seller. The seller reports that the tachometer is intermittently functional.
The air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six was factory-rated for 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque when new and has been modified with a pop-off valve. Servicing in May 2020 included a replaced starter and steering column bearing sleeve, the installation of a rebuilt warm-up regulator, and an oil change.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, which was rebuilt and fitted with a new clutch kit in 2003.
