Seller’s Description: 1978 Suzuki GS 1000 motorcycle. 5-speed manual trans. For sale by original adult owner–23,185 miles. Never crashed. One small dent in RH side of gas tank. Seat is in perfect condition. Always stored in climate-controlled garage after oil and filter change and fuel stabilizer. Always used non-ethanol premium fuel. Plated, Tagged and ridden every year. Recent tune-up includes plugs, timing, carb adjustment, valve adjustment. Engine compression in the 4 cylinders is 156, 157, 152, 160 psi. Minimum spec. is 120 psi.
Engine factory rated at 87 HP at the crankshaft. Chain and transmission losses are typically 10-15%. Chassis dyno confirmed 79 HP and 58 lb-ft torque at the rear wheel—period cycle mags showed 72-74 HP at the rear wheel. All original parts removed have been saved. Original owner’s manual, tool kit, and factory shop manual included. Parts replaced/added include K&N air filter, electonic ignition, progressive front springs, progressive rear springs and shocks, radial tires, flashing brake light, soft handlebar grips, oil pressue gauge, voltmeter, and misc. spare parts. Mechanics box of valve shims and special tool included.
