Seller’s Description: This rare 1979 Ford F-350 4×4 is one of the 10,811 f-350s produced in the single cab 4×4 1-ton platform. Also of note 1979 was the first year a F350 was offered in 4×4. This F-350 has a nickname of Tank as it sports a tank green color and well look at it this is a beast. Tank was bought at Fairview Ford sales in San Bernardino, California in august of 1979. It was owned by a gentleman in the Army Corp of engineers and he over time made some neat updates to the truck to suit his needs. While he and his corpsmen were doing a construction project on a base he became buddies with a guy on the base that was in charge of painting equipment and one day his buddy said hey I have some paint leftover from throwing paint on some tanks, I could swing your truck threw the shop. Well, that’s how it is wearing its tank green color today! The original owner was quite the engineer with several inventions under his belt that are in use by the Army Corp of engineers today and his creativity show in the truck. Over time he added a 12k LB winch and pentile hook, lots of lights, and neat gauges. Everything on this truck works good and it runs great!
There is NO RUST at all on the truck and it is exceptionally straight as you can see.
We have left this truck about the same way we found it with just going through to make sure all mechanicals were in good shape and the only other change being a new vinyl floor kit from Auto Custom carpet added as the original was brittle. It has the original seat that has never been reupholstered and is in clean comfortable condition.
This rare, low mileage truck is clearly a neat piece of history with a special story and would be great to be added to a collection or brought back to its original look.
