BF Classified: 1981 Cadillac El Caddy

Asking Price: $5,000
Location: Apopka, Florida
Title Status: Clean

Seller’s Description: Built around 1983 on a ’81 Cadillac Coupe Deville (2 door). Constructed in all metal, with a fully funtioning tailgate, while shortening the roof and moving the rear window forward.

Originally produced as a diesel, it was repowered when the conversion was done, with a current 307 Buick motor. It still retains the original Hydro-boost brake set-up and is functional. The motor & trans was removed in 2011 when a cylinder head warped and lifted on the way to a show. That led to the current swap, a 305 TBI and 700R4 out of a ’92 Cadillac Sedan Deville w/ 62k miles. The ’92 donated all the needed parts for the swap, fuel lines, wiring harness, radiator and A/C components.

The way the project sits now is the power plant is installed, fuel lines, exhaust, shift linkage and driveshaft are installed. The ’92 wiring harness (included) needs to be installed & incorporated to the ’81 dash and the balance of the A/C components. The condition of the car is very solid w/ the exception of some rust coming thru the 38 year old bodywork, around the rear window and the roof splice. Also has some rust in the floors behind the seats from wet carpet padding. No rust in the usual spots like the rockers, fenders, frame or cowl.

This project also includes an additional disc brake rear-end and sway bar from a ’78 Caddy. Includes all of the parts to put it back its former show days, in the tubs shown in the photos.

I am pricing this Caddy as if it were a comparable “1981 El Camino” project in the same state of repair, asking $5000.00.
