Seller’s Description: An amazing time capsule. This car definitely qualifies as a barn find and is at a crossroad. Either restore it or make it into a cool cruiser.
The car runs and drives great! The engine is still peppy and the transmission shifts smoothly. The interior is a little rough and has about 98% of its original pieces. The exterior is about 98% intact with a couple of moldings missing. The original Toyota stereo is still in the dash and it appears most of its original systems are still functioning normally. No strange noises when you start, run, and drive the car. It’s a very comfortable ride.
Interesting features include 2.8 liter inline 5M-GE 6 cylinder (the same engine used in the 1983 Toyota Supra), four-speed automatic, rear-wheel drive with a four-link solid axle, power automatic seat belts (the first car in the world to feature power automatic seat belts!), electronic controlled automatic transmission, automatic climate controls, high-end factory-installed stereo system, factory roof rack, factory alloy wheels, multi-position front seats.
The underside is rust-free and in amazing condition. The topside has rust on the front fenders, some surface rust on the rear hatch, and a small dent on the passenger rear quarter panel near the rear wheel. The windshield is cracked. The rear hatch window is missing a corner trim piece.
Overall, I would score this car a 5 out of 10. It can be daily driven, it is a great candidate for a restoration or conversion to cruiser/drift car/safari wagon.
