BF Classified: 1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata With 32k Miles!

Seller’s Description: I am the third registered owner of this beautiful Mazda MX-5 Miata. This car is a true 2+ on the Hagerty scale. The original paint is flawless, as is the interior. The car starts and runs as a new one would. There is no smoke. There are no leaks. The only reason I am selling it is that I am almost 78 years old and it is getting harder for me to get in and out of it, so I very seldom drive it anymore. Someone will ask ‘Well, what is wrong with it?” I am really reaching to find a flaw, but if you examine the photos you will see a close up showing a tiny scratch on the rear bumper. The previous owner had installed an aftermarket stereo with Sirius capability but she reinstalled the original radio before selling. You can see in the pictures that the Sirius antenna is still stuck onto the car right behind the top. Also, the top is perfect but the rear window is merely excellent. The window is clear but has a slight amount of scuffing. Those are the faults I am aware of. In addition, the notebook in the photos contains the complete service history of the vehicle since delivered to the first owner.

Nice, and worth about $5500-6000. Matas sell with these miles half of the asking price all the time. Ones with 100k can go as cheap as $2000.

Sorry but Hagerty values this car at $13,400 so I feel I am offering it at a fair price. I have seen some of the $6,000 cars, with repaints, rust repair, etc. Usually that is what you get for that money. A $2,000 Miata is a parts car.

In the West Coast it is just different. Its so easy to find garage queen ones for $6000. I was so tempted to buy a green 2nd gen 2001 model with under 40k always garaged. It was $7000. Gone in less than a week. They are really common. Earlier ones are really inexpensive. With great paint, interior, well maintained under 100k and $2500. Wish we had more small 4 seat convertible options in the USA.That is the only reason I cannot see getting one. Too impractical with family.

Hagerty values this car at $13,400. I feel my asking price is reasonable. I have seen some of these so called excellent cars with bondo, repaints, rusted floors etc. for $5,000 or $6,000. Junk! This is a pristine original. Perfect as it came out of the factory.

Love the Miata. I’m driving my daughter’s after she left it in my garage for 15 years. I just did the timing belt/water pump myself. I’m, 66 and it’s hard to get in/out of but it is just plain fun to drive, especially when you lean hard into a corner. Good Luck with the sale!

If my garage didn’t already have my Z in it, I would grab this one fast.

It’s back on the market if you are interested. I would accept $10,000.

      • djkenny

I would be interested for less. $6500, maybe.

It is bid to $9,900 on Ebay. We will see.

    • djkenny

That is super awesome. Just so weird to see this. Must be due to so many rotting away in parts of the country with rust issues. If you can see 10 grand for a early Miata, major props.

Look, I paid $8,100 for it. Plus tax. Hagerty actually values this car at $13,400. Not giving it away. I am asking $10,000 so think about it. This car is pristine.

The Ebay deal fell through. The bidder did not pay and would not answer any communication. So here we are again. Yes I would take $10,000 for it. Make me an offer.

    • djkenny

You should Relist it. I know the value in our vicinity, but you may very well get closer to, or as much as you want. Hagerty is Note; not always correct. But if you can get a lot, why not?

    • djkenny

Yes: The 1.8, later 1st Gen, M Edition, less miles, Desirable color. Still high compared to some deals I see, but not Nutty.

Relisted on Ebay with a low reserve and a buy it now price of $10,000.
