1929 Ford Model A: 40 Year Old Restoration

1929 Model A Roadster

Cars from the ’50s and ’60s are really popular these days. It seems a lot of us are nostalgic for the cars of our youth. As a result, antique car prices have really dropped, unless the car is something really special or has been turned into a custom or hotrod. This 1929 Model A Roadster at $13,750 could be a real bargain. It was restored over 40 years ago and was covered up in a garage after the owner died. The paint has a few scratches but it looks nice. There is no rust and the interior looks to be in really nice shape. You could get in this car and drive it anywhere, although I would avoid much freeway driving. The owner took it on a 100 mile trip with no problems. You can find cheaper Model As, but it would cost you more to bring another one up to this condition. These are actually really fun to drive. I just hope someone buys it and really enjoys it. It’s listed here on eBay in Fortville, Indiana.

Nice ‘A’, so it’s sad to see it sitting there all by itself. Years ago this nicely restored driver A would have been sold already, but it’s going unsold at a price of less than $14K, which wouldn’t even cover the body work needed on a lot of the poor 356s and early 911s that get bid up to many times the cost of this car. And it looks like it needs nothing….just get in and drive.

The experts in the newly developed field of study called Behavioral Car Collecting say that when we grow up we want what we wanted when we were in high school. I guess that’s generally correct, but I hope there’s someone left who can appreciate this nice old Ford and give it a home. I’m sure that Henry would appreciate it.

I have a ’30 A pickup which I inherited from my uncle when he died in ’72. (he was it’s second owner). It was never restored but once repainted. I use it often. I get manure in the spring for my garden. I get firewood up in the woods in the fall. It resides in a barn, but it’s never neglected. Great machine.

For Jim S. … That’s what auctions are for …! It does seem to be very favorably priced to me, yes. Anybody out there know of ’35 Ford roadster or cabriolet that
may be so well priced?! Toughest classic Ford (’35) to find in my view as most seem to have been scraped, hotrodded, wrecked, or severely raced beyond retrieval! The ones restored/rehabbed/original few, far between and DEAR!!
