1956 Chevrolet 210 For $1,500

1956 Chevrolet 210

Everytime I travel back home to visit my parents, I seem to always find something new and interesting that they have had packed away in a garage or shed. It’s interesting how we tend to put things away, thinking one day we will get back to it, yet it seems we rarely do. Take this 1956 Chevrolet 210 in Morris, Illinois that reader Michael P’s dad parked in the yard and just left. Michael recently pulled it from the weeds and is hoping to find a new home for it before it rust anymore. Here is what he as to say about it – I just pulled this out of the weeds at my parents’ house. My dad bought this in 1974 from the original owner. Basic ’56 – 6 cylinder, 3 speed. Plenty of rust, floor rotted but it is all there. Needs a lot of TLC. 59,000 miles on the odometer. I cannot find the title but I can get a lost title from Illinois DMV. Given the condition of this ’56, Michael is asking $1,500, but is also willing to hear offers! If you’d be interested in giving this project a new home, email him here at map317@yahoo.com.

While this looks like a massive project, it is a ’56 Chevy two door and at $1,500 or less it could be a worthwhile project or at the very least a good parts car. I’d hate to see it parted out, but sometimes that’s the best fate we can ask for an old car. So do you think this Chevy could be saved or has it achieved parts car status? I want to thank Michael for sharing his father’s car with us and for giving us the opportunity to find it a new home!

More pictures would be nice. I do not want to say it is a parts car, but it does have a lot of rust. Whoever buys this needs to understand how big this project is.

This car is the twin to the car my dad taught me how to drive manual trans in. Also it is close to my home town of Aurora, Illinois but sadly I know it’s not ours as dad’s was a 4 door but same color and his was a 6 banger. This one would be more work than I could handle otherwise I would have this car this weekend.

Too bad dad didn’t have a barn. I would love to have this if it were on the west coast.

No thanks. Pass on this one. Looks fast even when stationery. Check the speedo.

Weeds are one of the worst places to keep cars. Such a shame. Would be a lot of work. Too much for me to wanna save a tri five Chevy belly button. Now if it was a Pontiac chieftain as complete as this I would at least look for this price. Wanna build one as a gasser some day with a healthy Pontiac motor 4 speed and a straight axle front end.

Your my kind of guy, I love the gasser cars. Was just at our local Drag Strip Saturday nite to watch the Super Stock Nostalgia Drags which were 60’s Chryslers with altered wheel bases and they resembled the Ramchargers of the day, also 2 of the guys from the show “Street Outlaws” were there plus a lady friend of ours was racing a Pro Stock Chevy Malibu her dad built.. Great Time perfect weather.

We are planning on going to the gasser show at Thompson raceway in Thompson Ohio in a couple weeks. Is supposed to be a good show. Planning on running my Le monster there. Will be it’s first time down the track with the new motor.

Have a friend’s shop that currently has a ’53 Chieftain getting put together. It does have a late model 350 in it now.

Shame they aren’t putting an injun engine in it.

My grandfather bought one brand new. Same colors. Four options; two tone, powerglide, base radio, and full wheel covers. In 1964 or so it had 17000 miles. Always garaged. He said he would give it to me in September for my birthday. In July or August the neighbor borrowed it and pulled out on front of a garbage truck. The car was hit so hard in the right door post that the left door wouldn’t close. Still makes me tear up.
