1970 Chevelle: Sleeper Potential?

1970 Chevelle

For the past 20 years this Chevelle has been parked in the original owner’s Tennessee Barn. All those years of neglect left it looking a bit rough and it currently isn’t running. The seller purchased it from the original owner’s 93 year old widow and she wasn’t sure just how long it had been in the barn. It would seem the seller doesn’t know much about it either, as they didn’t provide any information on what engine it has, but it looks like a 307 V8 to me. The black and green interior is an interesting combo and with some new seat covers and a little polishing, could look really good together! This Chevelle could make for a great sleeper with the right upgrades, but I’m not sure about the seller’s asking price of $9,500. Take a look at it here on craigslist in Anamosa, Iowa and let us know what you would pay for it.

    Aww, it’s nothing a little spit-and-polish (also a black interior and 454 transplant) won’t fix! ^_^

I defenitly (sp?) would not do anything radical to this car! as in other posts, I am concerned about the underside.. disc brakes, shocks, sway bars and the like . if the current engine can get fired up.. great.. if not.. another small block. It looks like the interior can be redone without too many issues . You don’t see many of these cars today! they have all been rodded and cloned.. . the 307 isn’t a bad engine, it’ll move it right along, not lightning quick, but it should cruise along at 70-75 without getting winded .. 9500? meh, see if he’d take 8K

Looks quite solid….consider how much it would cost to send one to the body shop just to get it to this point….who cares about the motor? Deserves a big-block anyway. I hate rust-repair:-(

Body seems pretty decent, so just spruce up the interior and if you can save the motor fine if not drop in a stroked 350 and call it a day. I love the sleepers.

I thinking about 5K is more in-line given it’s a 307 car with no high performance options. Peg leg 10 bolt rear, small sway bars if any, and so on. The ad is down so I didn’t get to see it but still… 5K IMHO.

Too bad, I wanted a look at the photos. Love Chevelles, I owned a ’69 SS396 in my younger days.

Ad is deleted. Any photos saved so you can post here? Just curious how you can visually tell a 307 from any other sbc…
