1984 Dodge W150 4×4 Short Bed

This 1984 Dodge W-150 Power Ram Pick Up Truck is located in Warsaw, Indiana. The truck is listed for sale here on eBay with five days remaining in the auction. After 22 bids, the truck is bid to $13,000 but the reserve has not been met. This looks to be a very clean, 4 wheel drive short bed survivor pick up. It is said to spent much of its life in the state of California. The odometer is said to read 80,352 miles.

The interior very nice and shows well. Dodge built pretty simple, straight forward designs when it came to the interior. The bench seat is starting to show extensive wear on the driver side and the door panels shows sun fading. The truck is optioned well with the gauge package, cruise control, air conditioning and an aftermarket Alpine radio. The truck has manual windows and the air conditioning system has been converted to R134. I had a friend in high school that had a SWB Ram truck like this but it had the slant six engine and was a few years older. It was dependable but pretty slow with only a six cylinder.

The Ram truck is powered by a Dodge 318 cubic inch V8 engine backed by a four speed manual transmission. The 318 cubic inch V8 engine had a long run in Dodge products. The cubic inches equate to about 5.2 liters. The buyer has recently done a full engine tune up and installed a new Tomaco carburetor. He also installed new intake and exhaust manifold gaskets. The single exhaust is muffled by a glass pack. The seller also installed a new power steering pump and alternator.

The exterior of the brown Ram truck looks pretty nice with 15 inch chrome wagon wheels and oversize Cooper Discovery ATX tires. The pictures indicate that the undercarriage is very clean and no rust can be seen on the body panels or undercarriage. This would make a nice truck for cruising or for work. It should have plenty of life left in it.

    Isn’t R134 being phased out?

What a great truck. A lot of work has been done, and I think the price is great for the condition. Neat that it’s a 4 speed. NOT a fan of Cooper tires, so those would go…

Tomaco carb? What’s that? All I can find are references to the “tomacco” grown by the Simpsons.

Tomacco is a carburetor rebuilder. Used to be in a lot of auto parts stores before the big chains came along.

Like the color! Seems like a loaded truck too. Just not a fan of the frontend, if it was a ’78 or older then we’re talking!

Beautiful truck!! First job is to get rid of that Lean Burn ignition system, then find some buckets seats like in the Lil Red. Otherwise …perfect.

You know, all you see today is RAM dually this and RAM pickup that, I wonder if those folks even realize what this is. See those 5 letters on the hood, spells “DODGE”, and I feel it’s a slap in the face to the Dodge Brothers that their name isn’t included today. Have we lost all our scruples? When you say “Dodge truck”, this is what comes to mind, not those 4 doors of today, when “Dodge” meant something. All these trucks were stout, they had to be, and I disagree, it’s not a “cruiser”, go get your 4 door RAM for that. This truck was made to work, not cruise. It will ride rough, wander, pop and backfire, pull when you brake, rattle and doors pop open, but by golly, that’s what it’s suppose to do, it’s a truck,,,dag nabit,,,whew,,nice truck.

Truck was originally automatic. Note the steering column, and cruise control was not available on manual transmissions in these until several years later. Great truck, though. New owner will be very happy with it.
