1987 Dodge Dakota Indy 500 Pace Truck Survivor

This 1987 Dodge Dakota Indy 500 Pace Truck is for sale here on eBay for a Buy It Now Price of $8,950. This truck comes with the 6 foot bed and there’s something extra sitting back there. Located in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, this is one of approximately 800 trucks built by Dodge to be used at the 1987 Indy 500 race. As a bonus, it comes with a mini go kart replica!

With 129,000 miles, this 4WD truck has been well used but looks to be in great shape. It is equipped with a 3.9 liter V6 engine and automatic transmission. The owner states that the truck has had regular oil changes at 3,000 miles and has been garage kept.

The interior reflects the SE package and appears to have very little wear. The 4WD shifter is floor mounted. The seller states that the paint is original and has the factory decals and aluminum wheels. The factory roll bar and fog lights are sporty and the seller says that all the gauges and AC work but the truck will need a new exhaust system soon.

This unique Pace Truck has a reasonable asking price and appears to be in good condition for its age and mileage. The go kart was distributed only to dealers and comes with a Tecumseh engine. Who knows more about these trucks and how many have survived? Please let us know in the comments below.

I like the spare truck in bed for emergencies but-not sure if i would drive it more than the tire change lane.

Its not my type of collector but i bet
    someone will love it!

Its a very nice and hopefully you’ll find a buyer at ask price seeking this cool truck. The go
cart does add flavor to it 👍

This and an ’87 LeBaron turbo convertible tribute Pace Car would make a nice little collection, especially with the dealer only go cart. Add that actual Pace Car that was available a few years ago and you almost have the complete package. I’d be in at the ask.

my take on this I had the same year dakota 1 of 5 dakotas I have owned, mine was 2 tone blue a se loved it, way better truck that a rust bucket ford ranger, or a s10 chev all day long! would love to have this but not with our 70 cent canadian dollar compared to us dollars!

Don’t remember the pace truck version but I remember my friend buying a new Dakota around that time. Same V6, automatic, all kinds of room in the cab compared to Rangers, Toys, Nissan’s, the wonderful S10. Still very truck oriented though, before they became cushy.

I own a 93 Dakota. Great truck. Love it. I like this truck but didn’t know Dodge put such tacky looking stripes on them. My 3.9 V6 is a great engine. A little over 240k miles and very strong and doesn’t use oil or leak anything. By 93 they had more horsepower than this would but they seem to be a really good engine overall. I am glad mine has a 5spd though. Mainly because the only Dakotas I run across at our junkyard have automatics. I’m not saying an automatic is bad, just that they don’t have the same lifespan as a manual.
