With one day remaining in the auction here on eBay, this 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser is being sold by a guy who specializes in this model. The Land Cruiser is located in Van Alstyne, Texas which is just north of Dallas. Their have been 43 bids and the current price is set at $20,000. The seller states that this is a rare and sought after model. The exterior paint (4E9 Sandy Taupe) has been resprayed and a new fender and windshield frame were installed.
The odometer on this Cruiser is over 180,000 miles so there is some where evident on the seats but, overall, it is very clean and well kept. The 5 speed manual transmission stick sits alongside the four wheel drive selector between the two front bucket seats. Take a look at the handy compartments installed by the seller in the back. I am impressed with the storage and seller’s handywork.
The 4.2 liter diesel engine (1HZ) is barely broken in and is respected for its durability. It featured an overhead cam and indirect fuel injection. The 1HZ 4.2 liter inline six cylinder engine offered 129 horsepower from the factory. Torque figures were 210 lb ft at 2200 RPM. The seller states that there are no oil leaks and he has recently installed new shocks and tires.
I don’t know how hard it is to remove the top on the rear but once the weather cools down here in Texas, that might be a fun feature to have. The seller states that he has sold over a hundred 70 series Land Cruisers and this one is listed for sale locally. The seller is confident that you can fly in and drive this one home. Who is ready for a cross country adventure?
If u want to go out in the bush get a land rover…..if u want to get home get a land cruiser! Awesome truck wanted one since they came out
Sweet looking Land Cruiser. Why Toyota ever discontinued the 2 door Land Cruiser in the USA is beyond me. I’m also not too pleased that Toyota refuses to offer the Land Cruiser with a Turbo Diesel engine. Market be damned. That decision should be made by those who wish to buy.
Not enough people bought a 2-door Land Cruiser in the US when they were offered, so they stopped offering them. I also don’t see many two-door Cherokees, two-door Ford Explorers, two-door Blazers, two-door RAV4s, two-door Pathfinders, two-door Land Rovers, or two-door 4Runners on new car lots. There probably isn’t a turbo diesel on the market that can meet Toyota’s standards for reliability. There are a few that can last hundreds of thousands of miles, but they require emissions control and injector work that Toyota wouldn’t subject its customers to.
What percentage of new Wranglers that you see are two-doors? I see new Gladiators and Unlimiteds almost daily, but the two-doors are getting rare. I’ll be surprised if the new Bronco two-door survives the model’s first update.
Toyota itself offered the turbo diesels in other countries and they are just as bulletproof and reliable as this one.
EPA is probably the reasons behind them not offering it in the states
